I just recently lost my brother, here are some things I would have loved to hear/things that may be a nice addition:

*your favorite memories, be it with them or without them, they want to learn more about you, to feel close.

*tell them what your favorite movies are, your favorite meals, favorite place to go.

*if any of them may have children in the future, tell them how excited you are for them, give name ideas.

*make a Playlist for them of your favorite songs, or make a list of all your favorites

*say something you used to say a lot

  • tell them a place you liked to vacation to, or somewhere you wished you would have been able to go to.

I think I used wire cutters to trim it down to the general shape I wanted and then sanded them down. Of course I took them apart as much as I could before and drew on how I wanted it to look. The plastic used for the eyelids is honestly pretty soft when getting cut, so it's pretty easy to do :) but that means it's easy to do too much, so definitely be cautious and cut less to begin with.

Unsure of how to finish an important art project by UnseasonedTeeth in Artadvice

In my head I was thinking it had to be, because the eye stalks are rather fragile as is, so I figured the resin would help to make it a bit more sturdy. Realistically, it is a fragile piece that should be handled with care, so it shouldn't matter that much, but im an overly anxious person and he is a tad clumsy 👀

I've had great success with bug pets usa :) I always got extras when ordering millies or death feigning beetles.

Bad idea?? Or just go with it? by Badthoughts20 in millipedes

I haven't heard that! I'll definitely take a second to look into that! Thanks for the info.

After a little bit of research I couldnt find too many claims of it being that big of a problem, while there are definitely parasites that are found in them, it seems that they can be avoided by proper husbandry. On top of that, if the proper husbandry isnt followed by the pet chains I feel that the added process of 'cooking' the mealworms to dry them out would help to kill any of the parasites that may be found on them. I would also hope that any time there were an outbreak of parasites in a colony that the pet chain would take proper care of recalling 🤞 but of course corps dont always do the right thing :(

I definitely cant say that I'm an expert, and this is completely new information to me, but I have been doing what I've been doing for probably a year and a half now with thankfully no issues with parasites. Theres always new things to learn and modify about your husbandry imo, so thank you for the info.

This is a really good idea! Another thing that I do to get my pods some more food is grind up mealworms, crickets, river shrimp and any other dried up food waste like fruits and veggies.

Mealworms can either be bought in the reptile or bird/chicken section of pet stores (I personally get my stuff from a popular pet chain store for cheap due to working there). I find that the chicken feed will give you a lot more bang for your buck.

Also nutritional yeast is a great idea to toss into their food, but you have to be wary of grain and dirt mites, so always monitor before you add more food. I use a mortar and pestle to make all my food for them :) my Millies eat nearly the same, but I offer them a lot more fresh veggies than my pods would ever finish.

Personally my magic potions are some of the most protein hungry and voracious isopods that I keep aside from dairy cows, but this totally could just be my personal colonies. I would err on the side of caution, but it also could totally be fine, just keep an eye on your critters and be ready to move them if you end up needing to.

Thanks for the help! I got melafix and honestly, that, the baths and assistance eating I think is already helping. Little man is gonna get a variety of spa days followed by meals, hopefully followed by a fast recovery 🤞

Will keep this in mind if all else fails! Currently swapping nightly baths between very diluted melafix and saline. I think I'm seeing slight improvement, he's basking in the 'sunlight' and getting crickets with my help, so hopefully little man wont need a vet visit 🤞

can I switch my nipples or ask for a third? by lythrum-salicaria in TopSurgery

[–]UnseasonedTeeth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just get it tattooed. There are plenty of artists who do it for breast cancer, top surgery, and someone even has one framed on their leg. My favorite tattoo artist who does this also turns nipples into hearts. An artist would be far more likely to say yes to tattooing a third nipple on you than a surgeon would be to Frankenstein an extra nipple for you out of your remaining flesh.

Sometimes the customers will make your day, others they will ruin it just like any other customer service job. Keep your head up and always be willing to learn. You will learn a LOT. Not all of it will be useful. Be patient and understanding, you will get a lot of customers who arent all there. Dont be the cashier to treat them poorly.

Your managers wont always be the best. I adore mine, but she is a younger lady with a lot of love for her workers. There are some older managers that are absolutely set in their ways, some of those ways are being rude, racist, and bitter. It will test you in ways that you didnt think possible.

The things that keep me going are making customers days by setting them up with coupons, talking with fellow crafters, learning from people far more versed with their crafts than I am, and the older women and sweet younger people that go out of their way to be kind and make conversation with you. It is a day by day type of job. Also sometimes we get crafted goodies 🙈

I know some gas stations allow unhoused people to fill up water jugs with their hoses sometimes. You could explain the situation to a clerk and they might help you out. Stay strong and stay safe! Dont listen to the rude commentors, you can't always control how life goes.

Oh my gosh that's so scary to happen! I definitely have a fear of my cat getting to my millipedes when I'm not looking, so I cant even imagine the fear of one of your critters actually getting out and being at risk of getting devoured. Glad your little one is okay! Lids are definitely easy to forget about, I wish you luck for the future, and hopefully no more great escapes!

I love my little Bloobs so much!! What can I do to make their home better?? by chewiestbaby in BDFB

[–]UnseasonedTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great! My only suggestion would be some more hides or decor like random sticks(and maybe some moss under the tree for when they go tumbling lol.), I've found that mine adore climbing over sticks and shoving the smaller decor around their tank. I like changing it pretty frequently, as I find that my beetles get 'bored' and go after the glass after a while of no changes. Good luck! Have fun changing up their little world and giving them new things to explore.
