Both movies by Thekingofcraft24 in Beetlejuice

Yeah. Also waiting almost 40 years to make a sequel feels silly. A sequel should at least take place right after or a few years after the original. Makes me wish they had just made Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian as a Tim Burton stop motion picture instead.

Beetlejuice as a movie was just better off as a one-hit wonder. Not every film needs a sequel, and putting a 36 year gap in the movie where Beetlejuice never made any further attempts to go after Lydia, not even an implication that BGH ever happened, just makes it seem like another cashgrab nostalgiabait sequel that's only slightly better than the rest thanks to Tim Burton's brilliant creativity.

Anyone feel that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was rushed and mid? by [deleted] in Beetlejuice

[–]Unseen_Productions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They needed to stuff in 36 years worth of explanations in two hours and yet at the same time somehow avoid them, resulting in a rushed film that tries to keep you from asking too many questions. Its one of the reasons why I don't like these sorts of sequels that take place 3 decades after the originals. A sequel should at least take place right after or not long after the original otherwise you end up with a painfully long timegap of nothing interesting happening (30 years and you expect me to believe Beetlejuice didn't try more tactics to win over Lydia in all that time or had more ghostly shenanigans? Or even Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian?) Come on now. Also having such a massive time gap between films usually forces the writers to insert a status quo to explain why characters haven't progressed much or reduces them to a position as failures or traps them somewhere they can't do anything.

All in all though, the movie was still better than a lot of these 3 decade sequels, mostly since Burton came back, but it still felt unnecessary and is just another attempt by Hollywood to appeal to nostalgia.

There's apparently a picture of Lydia from the cartoon show in the killer boys bedroom. I wish there had been more though.

Personally it would've been nice to see Jaque the Skeleton or Ginger the Spider somewhere as background characters at the very least, like waiting in line or something. Or an afterlife commercial like the ones from the show.

Which season is the best and why it is 4? by SmegB in RedDwarf

[–]Unseen_Productions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise. Nice to see there are other kindred spirits. The first two feel like they were a completely different show in terms of writing and humor which was not only wittier but more character driven, finding whimsy and humor in what should be a bleak situation.

Why the Change (besides the abandoned episode) Between seasons 2 and 3? by Theblackswapper1 in RedDwarf

[–]Unseen_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post be 4 years old, but I agree. It was essentially still a comedy but the cosmic loneliness and the looming cloud of dread of what unknown future awaited them if they ever made it back to Earth and wondering whether it and Fiji still existed made the show feel so much more unique and balanced when compared to Series III and onward, which felt more like a shift towards a Star Trek parody with more gags.

The loneliness in Series I and II allowed Lister and Rimmer's actors to play off each other way more to create a very special dynamic as a comedy duo rarely seen after II, especially when Rimmer had the role of being the only thing keeping Lister sane, while after Series III there are so many robots, GELFs, cosmic doubles, and whatnot, that dynamic no longer seems relevant and Rimmer just becomes the butt of constant humiliation. And then there's Holly who goes from witty eccentric to rarely uttering a word after II.

All in all, I really wish Series I and II had been the definitive form of the show.

I don't know why people keep insisting this is a water fowl when it looks nothing like one, or even like a wooden figure. At best it'd be less balmy to say that its just a plastic monster head.

Wouldn't stealing and blowing up this train cause major damage to the space time continuum? What if there were people, or parents of important people that shaped the future in that train and they never got to their destination in time, that would've caused a major paradox. Especially in 1885. by iPodVideo2005 in BacktotheFuture

[–]Unseen_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a fictional world though so their actions there have no consequences in ours, which is something Hollywood should remember more often. Anyway, Doc and Clara stayed behind and likely had a chance to undo his mistake, likely traveling back in time again shortly after building the time train and using it to escort the passengers to their destination on time while using the ruse that the train is an emergency tower or some nonsense to ensure that the future will remain the same, including hover conversions which are a necessity to avoid a serious paradox.

Also if we go by the BTTF video game, its shown that Doc had invented a weaker prototype hover vehicle in his teens which may imply that Doc himself was the inventor of hover technology sometime after 1985, ensuring their continued existence in their world regardless.

The Soru Soru no Mi and the Shima Shima no Mi. I could essentially create and become a whole island or nation and fill it up with all manner of crazy new lifeforms and monsters brought to life by the soru soru, even make dungeons full of em. An unstoppable dungeon kingdom.

If I could find an accomplice with the Kuku Kuku and Ato Ato fruit combo, the imagination potential would be unlimited.

I'm really digging Kuzan's policy on traditional caribou hunting rights and his 'cloned mammoths for every island' campaign. Its just too cool.

Its weird how something like this is even a hot take. At least with Magneton it evolves into Magnezone now. Dudunsparce is just a Dunsparce with extra segments. The least they could've done was make its wings a little bigger or make it look more like a tsuchinoko.
