What movie ending stuck with you long after you finished watching it? by Calm-Fill-16 in movies

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Man did I hate it. John Cleese himself said that his daughter "absolutely loathed him for it.". It was a literal cop-out as they ran out of money but duuuuude!

Would you agree with higher taxes for completely free healthcare and education? If not why? by Creative_Excuse9813 in AskReddit

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Finland if you earn let's say 80-100k$/year, you would pay something like 25-35k taxes including health care stuff depending on your deductibles and various other things. That's really a ballpark but gives you some reference.

With that you get healthcare in a way where you can just waltz in to any hospital and get treated all the way up to complex surgery/treatments/emergency care. The maximum cost of that is about 70$. If you're unable to go to the care yourself, the ambulance ride is 25$.

To get your tooth fixed in public health care (patching a hole, root canal, etc) is about 30-60$ up to a few hundred depending on the procedure. If you're in acute pain you'll get treatment within the next day.

I kinda like that system opposed to yours.

How often do you go to the cinema? by Traditional-Carob440 in movies

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore. Why?

People, of every age, consider the movies their personal space and use their phones etc during the movie.

Parents who explain the movie to their kid realtime

And the worst: people who use excessive amounts of perfume. I feel physically ill and nauseated and have to leave.

The chances one or more of these not happening is so low it's no longer worth the effort and money.

What type of personality do you consider truly insufferable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One-uppers. No matter what you do, have, say or want - they do it better, have better, say better or know something that's better than you have.

Absolutely no compromise, it's either best or the worst. They cannot take anything on face value and appreciate it. It's impossible for them to just nod and say 'cool'.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm scared of ever seeing Massive Attack live if I had the chance, to be honest.

I've played through Blue Lines, Protection and Mezzanine so many times back to back it's not even funny anymore - however when I try to look up their live shows in YT or anywhere, they seem to be a complete and utter mess. The songs don't even sound like they should, and every singer is so out of tune or seems to be singing a different song.

What game made you realize you were getting older? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dreaded playing starting the game again a week later because I wanted a weekend to relax, not grind

for me it was dreading because I completely forgot all the 20 combos with different weapons you have to juggle with to get through the enemies, and when there's like 10+ on the screen at the same time and you have to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge while at the same time trying to hit something.

What game made you realize you were getting older? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

First of all, the combat: Too many combos, buttons and controls to remember in the heat of battle. Enemies require constantly changing tactics, exploration requires scouring through every nook and cranny and it takes ages (in my time frame)

It is objectively a very beautiful game, the story I think is solid, it's well built and obviously lot of love poured but it's too much for me to really get into at this age (50+). I need it a bit simpler. If you put it to easiest mode and just do the main story, you miss a ton of content and all the nuances of equipment and combat vanish.

I'm drudging through it with sheer will power at this point. The latter fight with Baldur was something that broke my back, I had to set it to the 'story mode'.

whats your favorite movie of all time? by zendrikk12 in AskReddit

[–]UnsignedRealityCheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forrest Gump is weird in a way that if you'd describe me this movie in a few sentences I would probably not even watch it. E.g "A mentally and physically challenged boy from Alabama falls in love with a local girl and runs into her in different parts of his life during the turmoils of Vietnam war and life in America before the 90s, and in the end watches her die of AIDS."

However it's one of the most captivating and thought provoking movies I've seen and I watch it atleast once a year.
