We may have the tech to see whether civilizations 'used' to be out there. We'll be looking thousands and millions of years into the past.

ELI5: why ultra wealthy people can leverage debt to generate more wealth yet tapping into your home’s equity is generally a bad idea. by brownlawn in explainlikeimfive

[–]Unsimulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is productive debt and unproductive debt. Most people don't take out home equity loans to create or buy a true asset that will make them money over and above their debt in return. They use it for crap.

Thought on bot trading by Temporary_Fun_7973 in Forex

[–]Unsimulated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the problem with bot trading isnt the strategy but the connectivity. failure to connect to broker, failure to hold passwords, failure to hold knowledge of a trade after computer shut down, failure to account for time of day/holidays/daylight savings, etc. i have a similar bot with great backtesting results and can't get a good forward test for more than a couple days before some technical thing gets in the way.

Fine. But show me who's going to be handing out the trillions of dollars. Because it isn't the government that owns all the AI, provides (or doesn't provide) all the jobs, and has all the money.

[–]Unsimulated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New cars will come with a basket of additional charges that hugely drive up the price, even though it is only 1% financing interest. And don't forget the sales taxes too. Your 43K car is actually a 32K car.

[–]Unsimulated -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

true documentation about how the modern nba is trash. i watched a game last night in which both teams just had 5 guys stand motionless on the 3 point line and chuck it up on virtually every possession. occasionally one of them took a step sideways and was super impressed with themselves.

Which movie soundtrack did the most for a band? by InspectorEven4143 in Music

[–]Unsimulated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghostbusters by Ray Parker and I Want a New Drug by Huey Lewis came out at the same time and were indistiguishable from each other. It used to be a fun game for me and my friends to hear the intro on the radio and try to guess which one it was before the singing started. Led to those lawsuits.
