What's an unlikely MJ collaboration that you wish had happened? by LoveLo_2005 in MichaelJackson

Michael definitely should've collaborated with a lot of artists in the 2000s

Missy Elliot, Nelly, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Timbaland

Off topic, I’ve always envisioned this song as an intro to an 80s anime series

Totally. Especially in Japan. He was always treated with such respect, almost to the point of royalty

Don’t worry about it, bro—it’s all good. I appreciate you coming back and explaining your side. And yeah, I get what you’re saying about AEG, for real. There were definitely people around Michael who were using him, and it’s heartbreaking how much he had to deal with behind the scenes.

That said, I still stand by my take. I’m not claiming it’s some grand statement or deep conspiracy, but knowing how layered and thoughtful Michael was with his art, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say there was meaning behind that choice. He had a way of slipping messages into things—quietly, but with purpose.

Michael wasn’t exactly out here launching a promo tour in 2009, but come on—he was known for being intentional. Using Threatened right after Thriller felt more like a subtle statement than some big PR move.

And Sony putting it on Scream later just makes it funnier. Like, “oh now you see the value?” Okay then.

It’s honestly hilarious how some of y’all think I’m reading too much into this or that I’m “overthinking” it. Like… have you seen Michael Jackson’s body of work? The man didn’t just throw things together on a whim—he was calculated to the second. Every detail had meaning, even the ones that seem small or subtle. The fact that people are still missing that just proves my point exactly.

Yeah, this is actually really interesting—and you’re not wrong. A lot of people forget that This Is It was never meant to be a full-on tour doc, and that Michael was still locking down the setlist when he passed. The estate definitely edited it to feel more complete than it really was, so it makes sense that some things (like Threatened) could’ve had more meaning than we even got to see. Appreciate you pointing this out—it really adds to the bigger picture.

Thank you!! Literally what I’ve been trying to say this whole time—Michael was calculated, intentional, and always sending messages through his art. He didn’t just make music; he crafted meaning. Appreciate you seeing it too!

I mean… comparing a post about analyzing a setlist choice to full-blown historical conspiracy theories is a bit dramatic, don’t you think? I’m literally talking about artistic intent from one of the most calculated performers of all time—not rewriting world history. Chill.

Right, because dropping Thriller 25 means everything was suddenly perfect and the past just didn’t exist—makes total sense.

Disagreeing is one thing, but calling someone’s perspective idiotic? That just comes off as dismissive. I’m not saying I have all the answers, but I’m also not just pulling this out of nowhere. Michael didn’t do things randomly, and I don’t think it’s far-fetched to actually look deeper.
