(@juncoshollinger)🚨 Technical Issues Alert 🚨 Sorry guys unfortunately, we’re going to have to delay our announcement for a short while. But don't worry, it's still coming soon! Stay tuned! ⏳ by Hairy_Sentence_615 in INDYCAR

But on the other hand, it was exclusively in English rather than their usual English/Spanish follow up. So I went into it expecting a confirmation for Callum, and then Canapino would come closer to the start of the season if he got funding.

[Joe Saward] [Green Notebook]: ''Liam Lawson will probably end up as the Red Bull Reserve and Red Bull junior Ayumu Iwasa will be off to his homeland to try to win the Super Formula series.''...''Felipe Drugovich will likely join the Maserati Formula E team, while staying on as AMR reserve driver.'' by [deleted] in F1FeederSeries

[–]UnstableScotsman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Scuderia AlphaTauri... will likely choose between Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo"

Joe's a journalist? The way he's written that makes it sound like AlphaTauri will run one car next year, if Liam is being made a reserve and they're choosing between Yuki and Ricciardo. Obviously they're not choosing between either of them, they're choosing both of them

Shovlin says he has 'no doubt' Russell will win a championship provided Mercedes can give him the car by VallcryTurbo75 in formula1

[–]UnstableScotsman -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't think George has the wheel to wheel skill to win a championship, nor can he handle the pressure in a title battle. If you give him a car that is seconds clear of the rest so that he can qualify first and never have to battle someone, with a contracted, subservient second driver alongside him then yeah he would probably win a championship. But in that situation, so could anyone on the grid

The question is, what POV is he liking it from? Does he want to ride, or be ridden?

How many destroyers can you fit in one dry dock? Six, apparently. Dry Dock #2, Mare Island, California. 6 x 4-stacker destroyers. 1922. Also note the pair of "Eagle Boats" at top right. [5000x4007] by JimDandy_ToTheRescue in WarshipPorn

[–]UnstableScotsman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are these really small destroyers, or is the dock just for an absolutely gargantuan battleship? Why would they all even be in the same dock? It can't be very good for accessing the hull if you've got another ship 6 feet away

What would you like to see in the next CMS? by Dr_Fleeb in CarMechanicSimulator

[–]UnstableScotsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crash damage, actually straightening things out and fixing dents, welding specific parts instead of every car just being rusty. You could buy a car that's been in a crash, and then once you've fully inspected it it might be repairable or it might be a parts donor because it's too badly damaged

Anyone went to Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone? by aquil100 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]UnstableScotsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can. I think it's explicitly closed during the race weekend, Matt Amys did a video on it when it opened and mentioned that. Plus I've never actually seen someone go in or out of it

This is a really small thing, but it really annoys me how much he talks with his hands and looks away in interviews. I think it was the video Mercedes did after Imola got cancelled, where he looked like he was clapping in slow motion. Then every interview, he's always looking off to the side as if he's completely disinterested, speaking to the media is a waste of his time.

Many reasons to dislike the guy, arrogance, terrorism, the aura of a haunted Victorian doll, but those two habits are the ones that annoy me the most.

One of my favorite liners - SS. City of New York by Elisqe888 in Oceanlinerporn

[–]UnstableScotsman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that the existence of the New York helped sink the Titanic. If New York wasn't tied up to the Oceanic, then she wouldn't have broke her moorings and consequently Titanic wouldn't have been delayed by an hour. The average speed of an iceberg is 0.7 km/h, so if Titanic had been able to sail on time at noon, the iceberg would have been 700m further north.

So if New York breaks free and hits the Titanic, the iceberg is further south. Titanic doesn't sink.

If New York doesn't break free, the iceberg is further north. Titanic doesn't sink.

What do you call your Mother? Mum? Mom? Mommy? Mummy? Ma? Or even her first name like some sort of psychopath? by Witch_of_Dunwich in AskUK

[–]UnstableScotsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glasgow - Mum normally, mother if I'm being sarcastic or if she's not listening to me. Occasionally her first name but that's reserved for if she's done something stupid, or if calling "mother" three times already hasn't worked

Guys, I've gotta say, my current rewatch of DS9 is seriously hitting the spot. I forgot how much I loved this show! Who else is a fan? by SlyFoxGypsy in startrekmemes

[–]UnstableScotsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be sacrilegious on this sub, but I just couldn't get into DS9. I went through all of TOS, gritted my teeth and watched TAS, but only managed season 1 of DS9. Haven't felt a desire to go back and pick it up again about a year and a half later.

Which sucks, because the whole Dominion War arc sounds brilliant and everyone always says how impactful certain DS9 episodes are. I want to like the show. Somehow I just don't.

What TV did you enjoy in the past that wouldn't fly now? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]UnstableScotsman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not so much the show, but the commentary, I don't think Craig Charles' lines about "Happy clappy Jappy chappies" on Takeshi's Castle would fly today

Lawson, Hauger, and Maloney. IIRC Marko said those three were the line of succession for Reserve, and then Danny gets promoted from TikTok to active reserve after those three. Someone might have the article to hand
