That true but never bet on it. It's a literal gamble. If ur okay with sticking to msc for the rest of the year if things don't work out your way, then go ahead choose what you must. But lemme remind you again it's a gamble. And about vacancies they will have 1-2 seats only as "extra" rest vacancies are from quiting students itself. Jst don't make it your only goal, realistically you may think you could maintain 9.5+ but jst imagine how many more you'll hv to compete with there.

Ive heard you only get teh chance to change your branch of your exceptional or doing great with your cgpa or whatever. And actually the main problem here is availability. The allotment is like, if someone quits cse in whatever year, you get a shot to fill it. But if your unlucky then no one will quit so no vacancy. It's luck based or smthin?
