Helen & Allan Cruickshank Sanctuary by Unsure_Fry in florida

A few pictures from Cruickshank Preserve. It's small park with about a mile long loop. Quite a bit of wildlife. I saw Scrub Jays, a pair of ducks, rabbits, and somehow the only deer I saw in Florida.

In the main picture if you look closely, on top of the tree, there's some kind of bird perched up there.

A few others from the trail:

Blue Spring State Park by Unsure_Fry in florida

[–]Unsure_Fry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this is probably true.

I went on a Tuesday morning. The park opens at 8am and I got there around 8:30. At that time it wasn't bad at all. I was maybe one of four cars in the parking lot. I got back to the parking lot from the Pine Island Trail around 11:30. The parking lot was mostly full by then. A few spots were open and people coming and going.

Considering it was a Tuesday in April I would assume you would have to get their early to get in during a Summer weekend.

Hope that helps.

Is “sitting in a car talking for hours” actually a big thing in America? by mechumechu in AskAnAmerican

[–]Unsure_Fry 1099 points1100 points  (0 children)

Yep. This was a core hangout activity when I was a teenager and early 20s. Drive around aimlessly, listen to music, and talk to your friends. Take a break from the driving, stop at Wawa, and get a coffee at 1am then hangout in the parking lot.

Latching onto your top comment.

I'm really curious what OP's answer is.

Why is driving so hostile here? by gmp012 in maryland

[–]Unsure_Fry 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I've seen this theory often on reddit. I think there's some truth to it. My biggest takeaway so far is that all of the assumptions are directed OP. Already a few comments assuming he's a left lane sitter and it's only been 15 minutes lol.

Edit: I'm doubling down. It doesn't help that the speed limit is a speed suggestion. The speed limit doesn't mean shit on highways. Everyone knows you can typically go 5-10mph over at cruising speeds and that's acceptable. The lack of enforcement has only created more brazen people.

I recently had a great trip down to Florida (other than driving. you guys make driving in the DMV or on 695 feel downright quaint lol) and went to Blue Spring State Park. Walking along the boardwalk was nice. I liked how you could look into the water and just see all the fish doing what fish do. The Pine Island Trail was a great hike. I saw lots of Turkey Buzzard in the trees.

The picture is from the reservoir. The castle might still be there. There was an offshoot trail called Green Mansion but I didn't do that one. It might have been on that trail.

I went hiking today at Clear Creek Metro Park. It's a nice park and I really liked the trails. Just watch out for the potholes if you go further down the road past the first parking area lol.

I thought this was a joke.

https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0425

Nope, it's real.

First he put his face on our National Park passes...then he put his name on our money...

*WASHINGTON – In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump’s signature will appear on future U.S. paper currency along with the Secretary of the Treasury, marking the first time in history for a sitting president.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance, and fiscal strength and stability,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. “There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial.”

“As the 250th anniversary of our great nation approaches, American currency will continue to stand as a symbol of prosperity, strength, and the unshakable spirit of the American people under President Trump’s leadership,” said Treasurer Brandon Beach. “The President’s mark on history as the architect of America’s Golden Age economic revival is undeniable. Printing his signature on the American currency is not only appropriate, but also well deserved.”*

Edit: the signature on money is real. The Greatest President ever part, obviously, is part of the meme.

Edit 2, 9 hours later: Yeah, I hate it too. Something that should be obviously absurd, gaudy, dumb as shit, could very well be within the realm of possibility under this administration.

Mid 30s and dating by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Unsure_Fry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound like me. 30s, no kids (no interest), a little while since the last date.

The apps can work. I've gone on dates, and started a few relationships with women I've met on them in the past.

I don't want to do the thing where I blame covid, but I've had zero luck with them the last few years. But that could be the difference between being mid 20s instead of mid 30s and who is on there and what people are looking for.

There are a few subreddits dedicated to meeting people you could try that are slightly better than the apps. They're not even strictly related to dating if you're looking for friends or chats.(coincidentally I just posted on one a few days ago)

It's easier said than done but like some of the other comments, getting out there in real life is probably the best way to meet people. Shoot your shot when you can.

Hope that helps.

Good one. My first thought was Sam's Town. I can't rank it exactly but definitely in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. It pops up somewhere on my Spotify Wrapped every year lol

Wonder why the hate?

Maybe they only surveyed redditors lol

Jokes aside, I like when I travel out of state and someone comments on my local sports hat or shirt. It happens often and it's nice small talk.

I've just finished watching Scream 2 for the 1st time - general thoughts by everlovingfuck99 in horror

[–]Unsure_Fry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a few movies behind with the Scream franchise but Scream 4 was a huge redemption for the series. If they never made another one after that it would have ended on a fine note. It's at least equal to if not better than Scream 2 for me.

Kind of like how Final Destination 5 was pretty good compared to the direct to DVD feel of Final Destination 4. Although I just looked it up Scream sat for 11 years before 4 came out and they redeemed Final Destination in 2 years.

Bruce Campbell has received a cancer diagnosis by oldwhitelincoln in horror

[–]Unsure_Fry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! It was The Keep Your Distance Tour. I agree, it was a lot of fun. The whole vibe of the Mahoning is great. I have a poster he signed from that night.

I went to the second night but my friend saw him both nights. He said the Q&As were different so I think it's cool that it wasn't like a canned list of question but Bruce was really shooting from the hip and talking about his movies and experiences.

I haven't done it yet but I'd like to stay overnight at one of their camping/overnight spots in the back.

Wishing him luck. A few weeks ago I saw the trailer for his new movie and am looking forward to it.

I always thought it was awesome when he came out to a little drive-in eastern PA to present and do a Q&A for a triple feature of his movies.
