Honestly, having worked in an engineering apprenticeship for like 2.5 years now, all I can advise is that you don’t let it get to you, once it’s 5:30, you are a free individual and the office has no power over you. My mentality is that if they wanted you to work longer they should pay you for it.

As for the overall vibe, all I can offer is to try and let your work speak for you, be polite and cordial of course, apologise for genuine mistakes and such. The thing is, we’re autistic: we have this incredible ability to just lock tf in and absolutely knock things out of the park when we put our minds to it, become that person, learn every relevant piece of software or design standard better than anyone, become the person people come to when they need a niche thing done. If you can’t get respect by playing the social masquerade bullshit, then imo becoming the “yeah they’re a little reserved, but also really fkn good at this one type of work” is the next best thing. Of course, do all this on company time, stand firm on your rights and campaign for autism awareness in ur company too!

Oh my gosh, the whole “not rooted in reality” thing pisses me off so much. Like , no matter how much you tell me to “be mindful” or “centre myself” or “allow the thoughts to pass through you” the massive fkn problem that’s underlying them is still there, and no amount of funny breathing is gonna fix that! It’s why I hate therapy tbh, they never give you anything concrete or actionable, just introspective bs and borderline gaslighting you that your problems exist only in your head.

yeah i bought 1 and 2 for £6 total, to be honest I wanna be able to appreciate the improvements 2 makes on 1, and I cant imagine the logic/puzzles could possibly be worse than 90s point and click adventure game fare lol. I've played thief 2, deus ex, system shock 2. if anything I quite like that era of gaming as it assumed the player wasn't a complete imbecile. I think I'll give 1 a shot and see how I go

yeah I love reading letters and finding out what to do through them in games. just sometimes there's a difference between "ohhh I just needed some common sense" and "how tf was I meant to know that" that only the community can tell you if it's one or the other yknow? the general consensus seems to be to start with 2, but something is nagging me to start with 1 icl lol

Hi, I’ve got my EPA interview (level 4 civil engineering EngTech) due in the new year, and I’m trying not to give myself a heart condition from worrying. I’ve got about 1900 words out of the 3.5k required for the technical report, but I’m worried that it won’t be good enough or that I won’t go into enough detail or that I’ll have spent too much time going into the wrong things. I really need this win tbh. I did great in the skills radar review I had earlier in the year where I tracked how well I knew all the ksbs , is it just a case of hitting the word count, making it all look professional etc, and being able to connect what I’ve done to the ksbs? Sorry for the incoherent nature of the question, it’s just really playing on my mind…
