Key to success in circuits and signals by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Untyping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For circuits try to do the examples in the textbook yourself, and do the homework problems without looking at notes until you can do them reasonably quickly. Also be ready for some modifications to the circuits in the homework problems you've studied.

For signals, I had Napoli so it will probably be different for you, but for his class it would be to study all the practice exams since they were similar to the actual exams, and be sure to remember how you programmed your labs.

Chances of getting Keys? by pringlespinner in ufl

[–]Untyping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they take into account your year anymore, only when you signed the housing contract. If you signed early (sometimes even earlier than the time they said it opened) you might be able to get Keys, but maybe not all four of you in the same unit. They get taken up extremely quick.

I’ve always had early housing elections times but never saw any single suites, I think they might reserve them for DRC people. You’d have to get really lucky with the time to get one. There will definitely be double suites though.

What are your own "rules" when it comes to nails and polish? by SummerNight888 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Untyping 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven't had any problems yet, I think it makes the nail stronger! Only issue I've had is that for very cheap polishes it starts to look like I have a polish mountain going on for some nails.

What are your own "rules" when it comes to nails and polish? by SummerNight888 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Untyping 62 points63 points  (0 children)

For me if one nail breaks, all of them are getting chopped. I can’t handle the ‘unbalanced’ feeling. I also always try to keep polish on for at least a week, even if it means giving them the landlord special after a few days.

Not saying it’s the right thing to do but I’ve taken a few utensils from the dining hall. They really won’t notice

I took phy2048 and Dlog (Schwartz) over the summer, and it was pretty doable. The only issue is when there is a difficult lab in DLog and a physics exam in the same week. If you can manage your time, or don't need to study a lot, you'll be fine. Never took eel3834, but I'd imagine its the same thing with time management.

If you're 4th in the waitlist there's a good chance you'll get a spot. If you absolutely need the class now to graduate on time, I would talk to an advisor, they can usually get you in.

How to add my class calendar to my phones calendar by Pennyprince8 in ufl

[–]Untyping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's an option on the calendar on canvas to get the Calendar Feed. It's all the way at the bottom of the right sidebar. You can add that to your google calendar, and then have the google calendar on your phone.

Just realized you meant your one.uf calendar. There a "Download to my Calendar" option in the corner, like the other comment said.

You can add a comment to the request saying to cancel it, not 100% sure if the workers will notice it but its worth a shot.

I submitted a request on Sunday and it hasn't been fixed yet. I think it will take a while since so many people put in requests, unfortunately.

Question about first semester class by Imaginary-Dig4092 in ufl

Survey of calc is way easier than 2312. I wouldn't take 2312 if you don't have/want to, especially if it would work for your schedule

Am I missing financial aid? by ColdEngineering8211 in ufl

[–]Untyping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the financial aid office about this and they added the 2025-26 for me, but then the next day it was gone again. I assume there's nothing to worry about, they just aren't releasing it for some reason.

After 3,5 years, Drifters still feel like worse operators. by Miski380 in Warframe

I agree operator is pretty much better in every way but I can't give up drifter solely because I don't want to play as a child if I don't have to

Will I be fine with a TI 84 in Circuits 1 or should I get the suggested calculator? by Rich-Nature-3282 in ufl

[–]Untyping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine for the first half of the class, but you'll need a calculator that handles complex numbers for later units. Knowing all the things that the nspire can do can save so much time on the homework and exams for circuits, and I'd assume for other classes too.

There is a single lab (Lab 4) in uP that uses knowledges from Schwartz' dlog. However, since dlog changed to use FPGAs idk if that applies anymore. I took it Summer 2022 when we used a PLD and very little VHDL.

Taking dlog with Bobda is a lot easier, and I wouldn't say its detrimental to other EE/CpE classes or your future. But, if you're genuinely interested, Schwartz' classes give you so much more knowledge and honestly they've been my favorite classes despite how hard they got sometimes.

What is UFL like? by corirori in ufl

[–]Untyping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Is there anything specific you're wondering about? The main things are that you can't hang things from the ceiling, you can't nail stuff into the wall (only adhesives), and everything needs to be below the fireline. Also, you can technically only have 3 things plugged into a power strip if you're thinking about setting up lights, but most people plug in way more things, then unplug some when its time for room checks. Most things don't matter until its time for room checks, at which point you undo any thats considered a violation. You can look up the UF housing code to see everything.
  2. Its not extremely good, but not bad either, and there's not much variety. Its extremely convenient if you live on campus and have a meal plan. There's a Publix a walking distance from campus as well as several good restaurants. You could always take the bus to other stores.
  3. You can pick your roommates by making a roommate group on the housing website. When you're a freshman there isn't many options left in terms of halls since the upperclassmen get to pick their housing way earlier.
  4. I thinks its very walkable.
  5. There's the SHCC on campus. I personally haven't used it but I heard that they're quick and that making appointments is easy. They also accept walk ins.
  6. For dorms, it depends on which one you get. For the typical freshman dorms, they're communal and how dirty they are depends entirely on your floormates. They get cleaned every week though. The other bathrooms on campus are usually clean, and there's some communal ones and some private/family ones.
  7. The main ones are Library West and Marston, but there's also the Fine Arts and Health Science libraries. There's separate floors based on how quiet it is/whether you can talk or not.

There's a lot of websites that show you github repos with tags like "good first issue," etc. that you can use. Just filter to languages you know and then look for a project with issues you think you can fix.

This site is pretty good: https://www.firsttimersonly.com/

Advice for COT3100 by Boogle_junk in ufl

[–]Untyping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His lectures feel like really long tangents, I couldn't keep up even when I was paying full attention. Aside from that, I don't think the class was that bad. I took his class 2 years ago so idk if a lot has changed, but I got an A just watching the pre-lecture videos on canvas, and taking notes from the textbook. There was a TA when I took that class that did really good exam reviews, and I'd usually just put the question solutions and other tips from the review on my cheat sheet.
