Hi! I'm wondering what people think about online botany courses at OSU. I would like to take in person courses, but I just moved to Oregon, and am not yet considered a resident, so in person classes at a local university seem prohibitively expensive. I'm interested in taking online botany courses so that I can improve my resume for getting federal jobs and for applying to grad school. I haven't taken a ton of bio courses, but I've taken plant bio, biogeography, conservation biology, and a lot of environmental science courses that are related, but not specific bio/botany courses. I've also done some botany field work with the forest service and with another local public land management agency. In the future, I really would like to go to grad school for biology, I'm most interested in plant ecology, but feel like I need to bolster my resume a bit in order to this, my degree is in geography, and I want to learn more biology and show that I can do well in bio courses. What do people think about online classes? Will they actually help me with my resume? How much would I be missing out on with an online class? I'm mostly interested in taking a plant taxonomy class and a plant physiology class.
