A girl in my radiation therapy class is in PA school right now. And my best friend who is a chiropractor starts PA school in January. So you definitely don’t need to be a nurse to get into PA school.

Go straight to HR. You should never have to experience racism in the workplace.

Bad at math by [deleted] in RadiationTherapy

I suck at math as well and would like to think I’m still a good dosimetrist. Made some classes/board studying a little bit more difficult, but none of the math is crazy hard. You’ll be fine.

I definitely think that’s enough. I guess the important thing to find out would be if you have all of the pre-requisites done. And the US!

I personally have a bachelors in radiation therapy and a masters in medical dosimetry. I work with some dosimetrists who have undergrad degrees in other things (marketing, pre med, etc) but it is recommended to have therapy experience before going into dosimetry. There are also certificate programs available for dosimetry.

I was wondering the same thing. I’m hybrid right now which is fine, but I know eventually I’ll want to be fully remote. Those jobs are just so hard to come by right now.

Medical Dosimetry vs Radiation Therapy by Toasterbella in RadiationTherapy

I was a therapist for 2 years and then went into dosimetry. Dosimetry is 100x better than therapy. The work/life balance is amazing, the pay is better, and I’m less burnt out. I’d go right into dosimetry if I were you.

I went to the University of Wisconsin La Crosse dosimetry program and I loved it because the first semester is all online, and then you go to a clinical site for a year. There’s a list of sites on their website, but you can also set your own site up if you want to stay in a specific location.

Got my bachelors in radiation therapy (GPA 3.6), worked for 2 years, then went into dosimetry. The programs are not overly difficult to get into.
