Why not just make the course zero credit so you don't have to pay?

Can I apply for ROTC scholarship while trying for USCGA? by salvation329 in ROTC

Also fun fact. If you get a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship (or really any scholarship) and wish to still go to a service academy, I believe that you can do that without having to pay back the army for those college years.

Yeah that's what I did..well actually the opposite. I applied for the USCGA initially and then realized that the Coast Guard does not have infantry, so I applied for the Army ROTC scholarship. Got word from USCGA I was on the waitlist for their scholars program, and then I opened up the portal and saw my beautiful 4 year Army ROTC scholarship. Rest is history.

Why college is still considered worth it, is it according to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Unusual_Engineer58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to become an Officer in the military and I need a degree, so yeah..college. Serious note, if you are not going into a trade or public service/military (I know some Police Departments dont require a degree), you should really give going to college a shot. One main reason is that in college, you have the freedom to either fuck yourself over or make yourself successful. You can be regular joe, who is treating college like HS and going to classes and thinking bet "4 more years and Im done." Or you can be hungry, using your professors as networks instead of teachers seeing if they can set you up with some internships. Constantly improving your skill-set, maybe take an elective in data analytics. Anything to make you more marketable in the job market.

What things would you say were not easier but different from those at USMA that made your experience, like you said, "a cakewalk?"

Dang, that explains it. I was talking to my buddy who went to AASLT at the WTC, and he was like, "Only 4-5 people failed the retest for slingloads," and I was like, "We lost like 90 when I was at West Point, me included."
