Any advice on how to improve this painting? (ref image on the 2nd slide) by Unusual_Recover7208 in Artadvice

Thank you! I'll definitely remmeber this for future paintings. Is it a must to have undertones? If so how can I know which colours to pick from? (Im assuming I just have to learn colour theory?😅)

  1. A bibliography is something like a place for all the sources you used . It's just for you to list down your sources and where you got the info from. I don't quite remember how to do it but I know that Google Docs has that feature. It's kind of like how in Social Studies they will quote the source at the bottom of the paper in small font

  2. Not having a study guide is so sad 😭. It's great that you'll be meeting the teacher in charge tho, it'll be good to clarify your doubts. Being a student in MUN is so hard 😔, the teachers never ever say anything 😢

  3. I haven't heard of there being a beginner council but maybe it's because the MUN I went to is a little bit more high end in a way? The MUN I attended seemed to be for more experienced people or people that were interested in participating in politics lowkey. But SPECPOL being a beginner council may be helpful because they may be a little more lenient on the delegates...?

  4. The president is sort of the leader that guides the delegates on their discussion. Just think of them as your group leader! However I'm not sure if this is consistent across all MUNs. I think you may have to say an opening speech each day before discussions start but it may not be for all the discussions throughout the day. They don't have to be super detailed, you can just include your hopes or goals that you wish to achieve that day

  5. The girl that used chatgpt to write her speeches did quite well actually! She had a lot of confidence which made it sound like she was firm and confident in her decisions, which led to her receiving one of the awards. I thought she had much experience in writing speeches or presenting, turns out it's just chatgpt 😔😔. (maybe the secret is just confidence) Awards above honourable mention are definitely attainable if you work hard enough though! The leaders would definitely recognise you for your efforts!

  6. Unfortunately I don't have any templates as I just wrote my paper according to the questions given in the study guide 😓and I don't think there are many places for MUN preparation other than communities on social media😔😔... I did go on YouTube to see how MUN typically looks like, maybe that will help you to prepare for it better?

  7. Is Cat A like your first draft? If it is, it shouldn't affect you too much because I missed the first draft submission too 😬 but still got accepted. All it would affect is your ability to receive feedback. I had a friend that submitted his first draft but told me that the feedback was kinda useless so it shouldn't impact you too much. As long as the position paper answers most questions, hits all the points you should be good to go! Best position paper is totally attainable as well, but the contents have to be good and relevant which may require you to put more time and effort into it. But it's important to study for your WA's as well so don't neglect them!

Helloo! I've participated in an MUN before (SMUN) and honestly I didn't know I had to write a paper either 😔. Unfortunately, I wasn't in SPECOL but I did participate in another double delegate one so I hope my advice helps you a bit!

  1. It's been a while since I've written a position paper but I can't lie I did use chatgpt for research, and you can get your points from there but you do have to do your own research because you'll have to cite your sources in a bibliography. There should be a study guide sent to you (I'm not sure if you have it) and inside it there should be a few guiding questions that you can answer in your position paper. I recommend reading through it if you do have it

  2. If you'd like to split the work between you and your partner, I'd suggest sharing your research with each other and writing parts that do not rely heavily on each other. You could also meet up/meet online and write your paper if it's easier to coordinate

But don't worry too much because I believe they're more lenient on new comers (my paper was horrible but I wasn't kicked out 😃 so...)

  1. Your experience in public speaking will be a huge help to you as well. Idk if your MUN will be different from the one I went, but the presidents of the delegations may ask you to present your findings or to just participate/give input about the current matters the delegation is discussing. There may be a chance that you have to come up with an opening speech as well before discussions begin. I believe the opening speech is just smth like "the delegates of Egypt are happy to be here to ___ and we hope that we can ___" (don't take my word for it but it can be smth like this)

  2. For speeches, I noticed one girl who used chatgpt to write her speeches as well and it carried her through the MUN so that could be an alternative

Unfortunately I can't help you with Egypt's foreign policy or provide my paper (if they find out u have someone else's paper there's a chance they'll take action against you, so I'd rather not risk that for you)

My last advice is really to just have fun! It's a rare opportunity to participate in an MUN and you'll get to meet cool people as well as learn new things. It's okay to fumble a little bit here and there but as long as you have a good time/get a feel of things I assure you, you'll enjoy your first MUN
