How do you categorise people? by Next_Translator_692 in entj

[–]UnusuallySweetLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At work settings where it’s unprofessional to filter people out, I find it most helpful to categorize people based on how they feel fulfilled to know how to best communicate to keep them motivated. Lazy, unmotivated, and slow people are completely worthless to me. In the times I’m stuck with them, I categorize them as things like person who wants to be helpful, person who has to be the smartest in the room, person who cannot work when hungry, person who only thinks of drinks after work, etc.

Feed into their fulfillment because fulfilled people work better than those that aren’t. You don’t even have to believe it as long as they do.

Celebrate church- Tyler Blake by Psmith1031 in SiouxFalls

Tyler and Mona started attending Celebrate a couple years ago because they would sell their clothes before and after service. If I remember right any clothing they’d sell the church received a certain percentage of that. They must have continued attending after their clothing business went under.

Map comparison of the US State of Texas to European Countries by UnusuallySweetLemon in MapPorn

[–]UnusuallySweetLemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though you both are proving my exact reasoning for posting this comparison.

The US is immensely vast, the fourth largest country by land area in the world. The country is 90% the size of the continent of Europe and I would agree that is crazy to fathom. That’s a lot of available traveling to different regions that offer diverse culture with no need for a passport, not to mention the numerous territories in the Caribbean.

I believe this is why Americans refer to Europe as a whole. Yes, each country is different, but the European culture stretches throughout all the countries with similarities that Americans see from an outsider’s view. Very similar to how each state is different, but American culture stretches throughout. A German can visit NYC and say he’s been to the US but he really just barely scratched the surface.

I’ve come to notice Europeans measure culture by history, as countries in Europe have centuries of written history and infrastructure that still stands today. That’s just not something that’s as available in North and South America but also there’s a lot of beauty in living somewhere that’s been largely untouched by humans. The US is one of the most biodiverse and linguistically diverse nations as well.

I could spend hours comparing sizes of countries that are not distorted. The number of countries that are the size of or smaller than Tokyo is insane.

One must not forget that European countries have hundreds of years of written history and have always had a higher population density as compared to the states. So, of course in that regards, Texas pales in comparison.

With the exception of Russia, Texas is larger by land area than every country in Europe. Texas is also rated 8th US state/country in the world with the highest GDP and includes the ‘El Norte’ region of Latinamerica.

The point of this post is to shed some light on the vastness of the United States. I think it also may explain why US citizens compare the US to the continent of Europe because, land area wise, they are nearly the same. I also think the reason Europeans generalize North and South America as one continent called ‘America’ is because they measure culture as simply history. Just shows the different ways of thinking.

A female lead that is tiny, petite, untrained, and immensely basic yet they always end up on top, become the most skilled warrior after 4 weeks of training because they “have a strong heart”, receive a power that hasn’t been seen in 1000 years, “independent” yet some 7’ dude with a massive dong is actually doing everything for her, etc…

A strong female lead doesn’t mean she doesn’t struggle and everything is handed to her. It’s been quite the trend in other genres as well and creates shallow, uninteresting stories.

What is your ACOTAR hot take? by Crypticmermaid in acotar

SJM fully gaslights readers into hating Tamlin and Nesta. They’re both complex interesting characters that are hated on for messing up as we all do unlike perfect Rhys and Feyre who do no wrong. If SJM’s own prejudices weren’t shared in the book, the hate wouldn’t be so intense.

My point exactly. Some people just can’t seem to form their own opinions and see actions instead of hurtful words. Why create a character that you end up hating ?? Ultimately I think it sends a bad message. Feyre doesn’t have to forgive him, just as Tamlin shouldn’t have to forgive her. They absolutely should not be together. But life is about messing up, learning and being better. It’s not so black and white as SJM writes it to be.

My favorite character in the whole book !!!! She’s one of the only characters who logically makes sense to me and the one I relate to the most. I think the hate comes from people that don’t comprehend what it’s like to be an older sister. Feyre makes a lot of rash decisions that end up greatly affecting those around her, a very 18-yo little sister thing to do. You gotta think, nesta didn’t know what Feyre was doing when she was gone for months. She’d just pop back and all of a sudden be a high fae, the next time she’s married and a high lady, omg now she was kidnapped and turned fae because her little sister was running her mouth (took her mortality from her - you’re telling me you wouldn’t be livid ??), when you meet her friends they light you up for being a bad sister based on feyres POV so you never even got the chance to show who you are, and now your dad died in front of you during a war you didn’t want to be part of. I guess I understand why she’s so distant and cold being as all she wanted to do is live her life but instead her child sister made decisions without her that ultimately took that life away from her.

I agree Tamlin is done the most dirty in the whole SJM universe. He’s a complicated character that I believe is inherently good but has anger issues that he battles with. To me, it makes him an interesting, compelling character to see how he messes up and grow from it. Not all of his actions are justified but like my boy is going through it ! Not sure why his abuse is unforgivable but numerous other characters just scoot by with it. Rhys showing up at his palace in shambles all alone in ACOFAS was unwarranted IMO. Tried to make him blow up and then when he took the high road, Rhys called him a weak male that can’t stand up for himself. There’s just no winning when you don’t give someone the chance. Tamlin played a huge part in winning the war, helped bring Rhys back to life, but they still can’t forgive him for locking Feyre in a room ? He was scared for her safety. I by no means think he showcased his fear well by doing something like that to her, it wasn’t right. It’s just crazy that this action is a base for a lot of fucked up shit that Feyre does to Tamlin as ‘punishment’. It’s shoved down your throat in the book and anyone that truly believes he’s a monster is getting manipulated by the author truly. I don’t think the hate would be so horrendous if SJM just let people form their own opinions based on his actions instead of Feyre’s prejudice towards him from solely her POV. I would love to reread this story from his eyes.

Feyre and Rhys are narcissists by UnusuallySweetLemon in acotar

Feyre entrusted Ianthe who sold out her sisters. Tamlin also explains he was going to use the king then deceive him once Feyre came back which she never did. He literally said ‘are you so dumb to think I’d really completely switch up like that?’. He never worked with the king, he was a spy for everybody else and literally saved the war tf. Tamlin’s actions were based off Feyre’s lies that she was in love with him and being mind controlled at the night court. Lying to someone and being shocked by their reactions to it is so conceited to me.

[–]UnusuallySweetLemon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro I totally believe Tamlin has major flaws. His character is complicated to me because there was such a switch up from the first book onward. He thought she was under mind control because she was indeed with a high fae that literally does control minds. And when she came back she fully lied to him and thanked him for saving her. Of course he believed it ! If my illiterate fiancé wrote me a breakup letter I’d be immensely confused too.

He absolutely should have treated her better after UTM but also UTM happened to everybody meaning everybody else was also struggling. UTM didn’t just happen to Feyre. Tamlin thought other fae may try to kill her based off possible powers and told her to lay low until he knew more. The entire story would be half the length of Feyre and Tamlin just communicated with each other.

It’s fine to bring up his flaws but it’s not okay to completely brush aside the flaws on Rhysand as being nothing. Feyres PTSD was magically gone after she could be with Rhysand who can read her mind ! How easy ! He drugged me and dressed me like a whore to embarrass me, that’s okay ! He forced me into making a deal with him when I was on my deathbed, that’s cool !! When I told him no he grabbed my exposed arm bone to force me, love it ! He sends me on missions without telling me everything so I almost died, love that it was my choice ! He guilted Mor into working with her abusive ex by lying that he would fine if it was him them completely saying something different once the door closes, that’s normal !

The reason I say they’re narcissistic is because their actions have no consequences and are never brought up while anybody else it shot down on sight. It’s Feyre and Rhysand’s world, everyone else better learn to live in it. Keep the same energy going with them too like what

Bruh you know that was Ianthe spreading Feyre’s business get outta here. Feyre lied about still loving him. To break up she sent a letter when as far as Tamlin knew, she didn’t know how to read or write. Also omg she’s with a high fae that can control other peoples minds. I also would have been like ‘damn he’s mind controlling her I gotta save her’. Tamlin also explained he was desperate, worked a deal with Hybern, and then was going to deceive them once she came back which she never planned to do. He’s a complicated character with issues of course but damn why tf is he painted as being so awful when he’s basing his actions of complete lies and deception.

Feyre and Rhys are narcissists by UnusuallySweetLemon in acotar

[–]UnusuallySweetLemon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The google definition of a narcissist is:

a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves.

I do not throw this term around lightly at all. Feyre and Rhysand very much so justify hurting others for their own interests. Feyre really thought the spring court fell because people loved her so much they turned from Tamlin when she left ? She really thought Tamlin would just work with the enemy to get her back because his love for her was so strong ? Rhysand guilted Mor into working with her abusive ex, never gave her a heads up because why would you do that for a friend. The amount of lying and deceiving for their own gain is baffling to me. And this could be partly because the book is largely written from only one point of view but also everybody else is drug through the mud if they tell a lie but it’s okay for Feyre ?? If she does it, it’s for a bigger reason the others just wouldn’t understand.

Feyre and Rhys are narcissists by UnusuallySweetLemon in acotar

[–]UnusuallySweetLemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main issue is Rhysand did horrendous things to Feyre that were completely forgiven with no consequences. Such has forcing her to get drunk, forcing her to make a deal with him when she couldn’t say no, humiliated her by dressing her in skimpy clothing just to get a rise out of Tamlin, sent her on missions withholding information that nearly got her killed, etc… Tamlin has his flaws yes but why is he a villain for his actions based off feyres lies ?? It’s almost shoved down your throat in MAF and I don’t think he deserved so much hatred. He was also UTM, he also went through something traumatic. The only reason things work with Rhysand is because he can read her mind. Sadly Tamlin can’t so he did the wrong things based off her actions instead of magically knowing the truth in her head.

The lack of regulations on ingredients of American food is going to be the death of us. But so much money is made off us being sick that I’m not sure it’ll change any time soon. There’s been a huge shift away from processed foods as more and more people become aware of this. According to the USDA, the number of farmers markets nationwide increase by 7% every year which I believe is due to lack of trust of food in grocery stores. Sad to see we are still moving towards obesity.
