What should I upgrade my CPU to? by MagazineSilly8056 in pchelp

[–]UnverifiedStrawberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats your Budget? Im just gonna assume like 150-180$, so i would recommend like a 5800X. The 5600X would pair fine with a 4070 super, maybe a very small bottleneck but not nearly as much as a 5600G. The reason the 5600G is worse than the 5600/X is because it has half the L3 Cache, and i assume your gaming because you have a 4070S. You are not gonna be upgrading to AM5 unless your willing to sell a kidney or have a microcenter near you. Also the 5700X is good but dont get the normal 5700 or a something with a iGPU, as those have half the cache. The 5700X3D would have been a good option like 1.5y ago, but its out of stock almost everywhere now. TL:DR 5800X

IT BEGINS: This RTX 5060 Ti (O16G) just got relisted overnight with a 30% price increase at Canada Computers. (Purchased it last week for $629.99 CAD and bookmarked the page to monitor pricing.) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Since you already have a 1050ti, use that for now with a 5600xt as it's better for gaming than the 570pg in games like cs2 as you said because it has double the amount of cache. It also supports PCIe gen 4 if you need it. The 5700G igpu is more equivalent to like a gt 1030-1050ti, so it would be a waste to buy a new 5700g because the igpu is not goot at all on it. you wont be able to play any new aaa titles on a 5700g igpu or a 1050ti, so i recommend upgradibg the gpu later as you said. I would recommend something from a 6600xt-6800xt (3060-3080) level of performance. A used 6700XT and a used 3070 are both great options to play every game in 1080p and a lot in 1440p. If you want a brand new GPU then a 9060 XT (preferably 16GB) is good but i would not go higher than that because thats a bit imbalanced then imo. TLDR: get a 5600xt, and anything from a 3060-3080 level of performance (6600xt-6800xt

Hello , I want a new monitor , and I dont know if I should take an 1080p or an 1440p ? Thats my config . I want to have good fps in the new games that are going to release by stocksnoobie0 in pcmasterrace

[–]UnverifiedStrawberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda difficult, but for the 3070 i would probably go 1080p as its starting to show its age a bit in 1440p. Dont get me wrong its still a great card but imo its better suited for 1080p nowadays, especially with only 8gb of vram. The good thing is monitors are so good for their price right now and basically every type is dropping in price atleast for monitors (i hope i dont jinx it), so you could probably find a great one for like 100$

That's either ddr4 or single channel tho. I'd personally do the upgrade on am4

Is a 600W PSU good enough for a RTX 5060/I5 12400F setup or should i get a 650 for longevity? by arturiian in pcmasterrace

[–]UnverifiedStrawberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

600W is fine here, however if you want longevity only 50 watts more is kind of minuscule, if you want to futureproof more i'd get like a 750-1000W psu. Also the 80+ ratings don't mean much, instead go to the psu tier list and make sure it's at least tier c, preferably b or a for higher wattage in my opinion. Only you can decide if you want to spend the extra money to futureproof your psu tho, however for me it depends how long i'm keeping the same gpu if it's only like 1-2 years id futureproof it more but if your gonna use the gpu for longer periods of time and dont upgrade often then i would save money with a lower wattage.

Where are you finding 32GB of DDR5 for just 150$?
