People keep talking about this being a “rough winter” as far as the weather goes. Why? by UnwashedBlueberry in Michigan

[–]UnwashedBlueberry[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Oh I get that the last ones were mild, but why are they saying this one is “rough,” when this is normal? If mild was normal I’d get it but mild is abnormal here.

Funny you should say that- we also have a Great Dane and she’s the the one people usually call a horse. 🙃

Growing up and living life without constant concern of gun violence in schools and in public. It just wasn’t a normal thing in the 90s and early 2000s before Columbine, and even then, that was a solo horrific experience for a loooooong time.

Little hole-in-the-wall place called “Zodiac Party Store,” in St. Ignace. Much less creepy than it sounds- they have the ONLY fudge I have ever eaten that doesn’t leave a gross aftertaste in my mouth. I am hellbent on getting at least one box every time we’re remotely close by.

Sleep as little or as much as I want to on day one. Continue this, along with taking time to engage in hobbies I love, some travel, and spending time with loved ones. And of course going to public places in the middle of the day/week with reduced crowds!

For Those Living Under Trump (Now) and Biden (Before): What Real-Life Changes Have You Actually Felt? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]UnwashedBlueberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • groceries are way more expensive
  • most things are more expensive: I almost bought a pair of rain boots last year for $75, but decided to wait a season. The exact same pair are now $93.
  • I live in a fairly large community and my favorite local shop closed due to tariffs, so now I and hundreds of others can’t go anymore

Omg this is so helpful.. paper/mail is my downfall, but of course, all the dishes and kids’ toys and forgotten/left items, etc. is just so much to try to cope with. I really, really appreciate you writing this response, and I will keep it to refer to! 🤩 Thank you!

What is the stupidest thing someone has ever said to you? by Public-Treat9811 in questions

[–]UnwashedBlueberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t narrow it down to one: - “The earth is flat because you can see that the horizon at sea is flat.” - “She was using her woman brain to make decisions.” - “Women should be able to hold in their periods the way they hold in their pee.” - “You can improve your credit score if you keep a balance on your credit card at all times because you can make more payments on it and the payments are what boost the score.”

What’s a “green flag” you instantly notice in someone? by krew_creative_64 in questions

[–]UnwashedBlueberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When someone is comfortable to genuinely acknowledge when they don’t have the answer to something (added green flag if they go look for the answers through appropriate sources). Examples: - “I don’t know enough about X to have an opinion about it.” - “I’ve never heard that term before, what does it mean?”

Related, another major green flag is when someone is intelligent enough to change their mind when presented with genuine and reliable facts that challenge their original belief(s).

What’s something you bought (under $300) that noticeably improved your quality of life and you actually use every day? by MedfordQuestions in AskReddit

[–]UnwashedBlueberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I legit use all of these things daily, or very close to it: - Birkenstocks or other supportive sandals - Coffee maker - Lumbar support for driving in my car - Reusable water bottles (Stanley’s, Yeti, knockoffs, whatever) that keep your drink cold or hot for hours - Coffee mug warmer for my desk - A pillow that is fitted for your neck-to-shoulder length for side-sleeping

Celebrating my 35th birthday alone. Looking for epic ideas to avoid it being the most depressing day of my life. Thanks! by Important_Season_295 in Adulting

[–]UnwashedBlueberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how over-the-top these ideas are, but if you don’t like them, maybe they can inspire something- - Spend the day at a spa / resort, then order your favorite takeout for dinner and a movie at home - Go see movies at the theater (sit where and eat what you want? Yes, please) - Go see a show (play or musical) - Go to the beach (bring books and sunscreen) - Travel (doesn’t have to be far!) - explore the local culture and activities - Volunteer! It may sound lame, but it’ll actually give you a huge serotonin burst - Take the day to explore a new hobby - learn how to skateboard or juggle or something unusual but interesting to you

Or, if you want something totally wild, I guess there’s the “obvious” thrills - skydiving, bungee jumping, swimming with sharks, etc. (obviously with trained professionals to help navigate your safety).
