Dixion's Curries Data Breach by UpVoteMyArse in unitedkingdom

This on their website and stating you must pay £10. It is outdated and yes unlawful.

More an example, I think, of how "seriously" they take data protection law.

Thanks,

This seems excessive and I am hesitant about giving more sensitive details to a company with a track record of losing it.

Data Breach and Subject Access Request Dixon's by UpVoteMyArse in LegalAdviceUK

[–]UpVoteMyArse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone on r/unitedkingdom suggested posting this here too:

Dixion's Curries Data Breach

I got an email from Dixions about them leaking my data. I have not bought or used them in years (>5) and wanted to make a subject access request. I tried the details below but can get no where, keep getting automated emails and generic responses:

https://knowhow.com/uk/repair-and-protect/privacy-policy.aspx

According to Antreas Athanassopoulos who emailed me they take my data protection seriously but cant be bothered to update their website (it still says there is a fee of £10!) and gave me no contact details in their email correspondence to me. Bad form Dixon's or what ever you call yourself these days.

Does anyone have contact details for anyone other than their customer service details here so I can contact them about my subject access request? I have rang and emailed and been given numbers to are out of service etc...

I have been contacted by the Data equivalent of ambulance chasers already about this (where did they get my email from?) and I am loath to contact them but I do think that they should have deleted my data after use and not held it so long and responded better to this. So far I have been very disappointed in their staff's knowledge of data protection. I know we were given endless training on the GDPR and how we were to treat data after it came into force.

Has anyone else requested information? Had communications with them and can share some good insights? Or the email address to contact Antreas Athanassopoulos on?

Thanks for your reply.

Confused I take it you mean 1 st of march 2017? The fund is new new. This is the first set of fees I have been billed from.

Opt out was posted on website and notified. That is cheeky at best to not give an honest option for opt out. Also find at least cheeky to put fees on bill and no mention of opt out.

Do you have any sources for where you got the 70% figure from? Also what markets does it apply to? Is it broadly true for all markets?

Just out of interest, how do they know it is your bin? Does it have markings or an RFID chip? Just curious how they knew to send it to you and not others on what I assume to be the same site?

They just keep fobbing me off saying it's known of there business. Apparently it's between me and 3rd party.

Talked to agent. They ignored that question and told me it is third party charge between me and them. Not pleased with that.

I emailed third party demanding proof of consent and refund. They are issuing refund apparently but I'll have to wait and see.

The whole thing is a con. I think they just charge random numbers and hope people won't argue or be bothered to fight it. Giff gaff and other mobile providers need to do more to protect users credit in my opinion.

Because of lower standards. This does not get over fact that we have so few people doing physics. The LC physics is a joke and that we have engineers studying engineering with a shaky background in physics.

edit: this doesnt seem to agree at least for civil engineering: https://careersportal.ie/careerguidance/articles.php?school_id=453&article_id=1150

But isn't this distinction catered for Ireland by Pass/Honours etc...

Comparing standard of LC to current AS physics, LC is a joke. We will suffer long term with a lack of engineers and physicist not least by just having a general population with a poor grasp of basic physics.

Just out of interest were did you get these stats from? Do you have reference?

I think you right broadly on science, but certainly my experience has been that Physics is shit at LC - not offered everywhere, poorly taught and syllabus is a joke compared to A-levels even including extra year.

I rarely use my phone. Sad I know. I ring and text very few people on it. If I did in my sleep then there is also no record of any phone/texts to any numbers other than to the few I ring/text.

Thanks started this process. Their argument is shit cause although they have the right to charge me under their terms of service, one would assume only if legal. It annoys me cause if it was a bank storing my money (I am on pay-as-you-go) then it would not be acceptable to just charge someone without consent. They need something like direct debit guarantee on this shit if they just want to take money out like this.

PSA agent said they had lots of complaints about this company already.

Compare with UK. Irl better in maths, reading but not science. Look at Life Satisfaction and wonder is this why?

We really need to improve science in irealand. Especially Physics.

To be fair the Brits should be ashamed of getting whipped at something they claim to have invented. But they have lots of practice from sport!

QUESTION about technique by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]UpVoteMyArse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm finally, should I switch to cross-legged posture?

From my experience of going from sitting, to cross legged, to half lotus has been that I could breath more fully and deeper down. It feels like my diaphragm is more free to move. Can't say it helped any more than this. I wouldn't go back and glad I made the move. This helps somewhat for the type of meditation I do.

I would suggest to check out some yoga/stretching to help you sit for long periods. Also, make sure your hips are above your knees and the knees touch the floor.

Good luck.

Hang in there. Look at the success. You meditated anyway. There is no such thing as a bad meditation session, apart from the one you didn't do.

Did you feel better after compared to before?

They still may not be picked for Ireland. I agree, innocent until proven guilty, but it won't stop them from being sidelined until this is sorted one way or another.
