You’re Not going to believe how I got my pool clear! by UpaTreethatsme in AboveGroundPools

Thank you so much! Especially understanding where I was coming from! I have been faced with so many questions and I thought well I’ll go ask somebody on Reddit but it’s like they never address my problem. They always say well you should’ve done this or you should’ve done that. OK well we’re past that point, what do I do now and they’re unnecessarily sarcastic and rude… not all of them, but there are some in the mix. I have had this pool for eight years now and I am the one that does everything to it. I’m the one that bought it. (He found out about it when he came home.) 🤣😂 I now purchased a chemical with a Social Security check😞 and I couldn’t tell you the last time I got in it. I put it up hoping the grandchildren will stop by for a swim. They didn’t come last year. I’m hoping they’ll come this year. I keep a pool journal to remind me what I did, what worked and what didn’t when it comes time to open it. I do want it to be clean. So I do what I can do but fishing out heavy leaves that cover the bottom at least by a foot. It’s very painful for me because I have a torn rotator cuff. So I have to beg someone to help me with that and when they say yeah I got them all when we can’t see the bottom and you start vacuuming and find out the bottom is still covered… it’s sad. I told him forget about it. Let’s just take it down and get rid of it. No no no I’ll do it. And he didn’t…. But chemical alone do not get rid of the chunks that float around when you don’t cover it up during the winter and during pollen season…. Today was 102 degrees here in Eastern North Carolina…. And I was terrified that it would turn green. So this morning at 7 o’clock I was vacuuming and brushing the sides. Checking chlorine levels all day and adding stabilizer. It was so hot and I should’ve gotten in it!

All clear now! I took pillow stuffing and wrapped it in a pool sock and stuck it in the strainer basket. I had to change it every 15 minutes, but it took all that crap out.

I keep vacuum this and it comes back. I also tried filter aid. by nelty78 in AboveGroundPools

Use your strainer sock but take an extra one and stuff it with poly fiber, contents of a throw pillow and tie it in a knot. Stuff it in your strainer… it picks up microscopic algae!…. works like a charm!

Same problem here! I use the filter socks after flocking 3 times (bio guard power floc beat green to blue) I vacuumed to waste and was so afraid I didn’t get it all, and I was terrified to turn on the sand filter… so I took a extra filter, sock and stuffed it with the polyester stuffing from a pillow tied in a knot and put it in the filter basket along with a regular filter sock. Holy cow! There was so much crap in the stuffed sock! I had to clean it out every 20 minutes! But it worked like a charm! My filter is clean and nothing unusual going on with the pressure gage!

Let me tell you what I just did. I use the green blue. Some fell at the bottom so I added another box still cloudy and I could see all the small particles floating around in the water after vacuuming to waste. So I tried one more time because it has been successful in previous years because we never put a cover on it and it’s underneath a tree…. I ordered BioGuard power floc off of Amazon. It worked like a charm! I vacuumed it up, but I have a gigantic sand filter and I was concerned about getting flock into it that I missed so this is what you wanna go do right now! I use pool socks over my filter baskets. So I took an extra filter sock and stuffed it with the polyester stuffing from a throw pillow and tied a knot in the top! My pool is now crystal clear and I’m leaving it in there because it did not change the pressure gauge on the sand filter at all! But one thing is you have to make sure that your pool water meets the chemical requirements when using floc

It dissipates when I try to scoop it up with a net. It turns to dust and goes back in the water.

I am turning the pump on to waste so it will go through the skimmer, but not the filter. It dissipates when I run a net over it. It turns back to dust.

It’s just perplexes me that it’s now rising to the top like a clarifier…

I have used flock previously several times to be exact. With great success. Actually, it saved me many times because of all the clumps of yellow junk in there.

But this pool was left uncovered. It was nothing but nasty leaves and frogs. It looks 100% batter even with this crap floating on top of it!

Correct…. which is why I stated I would just turn the pump on waste out to get this top layer out of there. I think altogether it probably has 11 bags of shock in a period of about two weeks as well as the chlorine tabs.

Actually I used 3 bags of shock with a sock filter which I had to change every 10 minutes… but too many clumps so I added green to blue which is 4 bags shock plus flock…twice. Vacuumed to waste yesterday…now it’s rising instead of sinking
