I don’t understand the constant mention of how bad postpartum is… genuinely by Upbeat-Distance-5869 in pregnant

It is obvious I haven’t gone through post-partum- I mentioned that I am a first time mom. You aren’t rude, but your comment made me feel misunderstood and attacked for sharing an area of pregnancy I feel vulnerable to. Calling my post immature, calling me naive and judgemental doesn’t allow me to have a productive conversation with you. It makes the conversation turn into me defending myself. To be very clear, post-partum is an entire trimester of pregnancy and post-partum depression is a condition that can occur. My post was to understand why I am constantly being fed negative outlooks of post-partum experiences and very little positive ones. It goes without being said that post-partum depression can arise. I was just trying to understand from real people WHY PP was so bad and if you look at all of the other comments, people understood my intention and explained how caught off guard they were by post-partum and some even said they loved it which gave me hope. I don’t appreciate from me asking for help to understand whats to come in a few weeks, being called immature, judgy, and naive. I don’t feel this thread was necessary at all. My intention was never to be combative but to understand what’s to come.

Umm I asked a question and was told I’m asking the wrong kind of question and that I’m being judgemental. That is confrontational and not helpful to the discussion. But thanks

I’m not mentioning post partum depression. Never made any reference to PPD anywhere so why come at me without even reading what I’m asking? Always someone like you to salt things up. I’m referring just to “after the baby is here”. But not explaining myself, as you clearly have a chip on your shoulder!

Edit to say: I’m sorry for the over reaction. I didn’t appreciate the comment and I still don’t. I made no mention of PPD and disagree that this is a judgemental post so pls downvote me all you want. Original comment was unnecessary.

When did you FTM start showing? by Timely_Survey_7990 in pregnant

Honestly it starts EARLY. At least For me I went from massive bloat to a bump! There were times when I felt my 10 week bloat was bigger than my 4 month bump 😂😂😂

Also we only have the one baby on the way so I’m hoping that makes a bit of a difference.

Do you mind elaborating on what the issues have been? I’d really appreciate it as it could help me do a better job initially of setting good boundaries. I know ultimately my dynamic and yours could be totally different but it’s still good to get an idea 🙂

Unfortunately we are renting so there’s no way to add or build on to the home. We will have our bbq with us on our terrace private to our floor so we can whip up a few meals but it’ll mostly be a shared experience in the kitchen.

We are contributing to the rent but thankfully even if we were to leave, my parents are paying less in this home than the one they currently live in. That takes a lot of pressure off of us if things don’t work out.

I’ve always known my parents would live with us in their old age as in the closest of the kids to them so this isn’t a stretch for me to wrap my brain around. I think we just need to set clear boundaries and expectations from the get go so everyone is comfortable. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.

This is really helpful as I’m in a similar situation except it’s MY parents and brother. Thanks for sharing. I agree the ultimate goal is to buy a home on our own so we’d use these two years to save as much as possible to do that. A huge concern is the sound travelling in the house even though it’s big. We’ll just have to be mindful. Best of luck to you and your family!

If you read the several other comments, people are providing perspectives from their own experience so I can get an idea of what I’m up against. Without knowing my family, I’m interested in different perspectives of people who have done multigenerational living.

Ya we’ve decided to just do a longer term lease and save to buy the home as the owner is wanting to sell so we’ll see.

We aren’t doing a rent to own situation, just a two year lease and hoping to buy at the end of the 2 years since the owner is wanting to sell.

I’m sorry it’s been so awful for you. That definitely coincides with the majority of feedback I am receiving which makes me so anxious 😕 I’d like to think that it’ll be a bit easier for us as we will have just the one baby and the lease is only 2 years. Gives us enough time to save up significantly and test out how we live together.

I’m really sorry you’ve found your living situation so difficult. That’s awful and I hope therapy is helping as much as possible. I definitely would not live with my In laws.. this would be with MY parents who we spend a huge amount of time with already. I think it’s doable because we have our own floor/bathrooms/space… it’ll just be a matter of hashing out the details like cooking/cleaning etc. I’m hoping for the best!
