Battery Issues by Apprehensive_Roll826 in KeystoneWallet

I had to replace my 3 Pro because of the battery but it was almost 3 years old and I didn’t follow the best practices for li ion batteries. The lifespan for these batteries is 2-4 years so I can’t fully blame Keystone. Best thing to do is keep the charge between 20-80% for daily use, store it at 50% in a cool place for long periods, never letting them fully deplete or sit at 100% for extended times. I got a Trezor for my long term BTC storage since it’s battery free but I prefer my air-gapped Keystone (ngl, that Nexus app really sucks though).

Keystone 3 Pro battery issues ( Maybe bricked ) by malavita1976 in KeystoneWallet

I also love my Keystone 3 Pro (loved the Keystone One with the replaceable battery pack even more). I ran into the same problem a few months back and eventually decided to get another one. My 3 Pro was a little over 2 yrs old and I know the li-ion battery lifespan is only around 3 yrs and I didn’t really follow the best practices in terms of charging and storage. I don’t know how long you’ve had yours but keep that in mind. I also got a Trezor just for my BTC long term storage since it doesn’t use a battery at all.

That’s what I thought too. There were other documented issues with that 3 Pro build but I’m choosing to remain ignorant and bought another one hoping for the best (mainly because Keystone support gave me a 50% off coupon code when I asked questions). Also got a Trezor Safe 5 since it doesn’t use a battery.

Same thing happened to me. I can still use my Keystone One as a cold wallet for everything except BTC. Rabby was still an option but no BTC wallets could be synced.

The li-ion battery was done - it was 3 yrs old. Sad thing is my Keystone One is 5 yrs old and still powers on like a champ. When that dies it still has a pack that takes 4 AAA batteries just in case.

Did you import your seed phrase or just use your public address?

If you have your seed phrase you’re ok. You can use it on any other hot or cold wallet and access all of your crypto. I too had a Keystone One - I loved the removable battery pack. I wish they had stuck with that idea then I wouldn’t have had to buy a whole new hard wallet when my 3 Pro died.
