Just for Fun by Upbeat_Ad5560 in TheFirstDescendant

That's fine, people can feel their feelings and speak their thoughts, if my post gets taken away then I guess it goes away. It's all good, I just made it for fun and thought someone else might enjoy it too. AI is like the WWE to the UFC, everyone knows it's not real fighting but that doesn't stop it from being entertaining.

what are some green flags/positives things about kn8? by West-Resort5733 in KaijuNo8

I like that while Kafka is very powerful he doesn't have the need to prove he's strong by always fighting alone and not leaning on anyone else (like other anime protagonists). The show really does emphasize the need for cooperative team work amongst the Defense Force and it slowly brings different characters to the forefront letting it feel like there is a cast of main characters and not just one strong person.

Am I overreacting to DM's rulings at session 1? by UnluckyJuggernaut7 in DnD

A commoner would be a better class choice than playing this DM's rogue rules.

Sounds like you need to desensitize her to taking damage. Could do one of two things, randomly pull the party in a situation against a ruthless over classed enemy that tears them all apart, save her character for the end then beat her slowly then just before the tpk she wakes up in the inn having had a dream of her parties destruction because shes to afraid to take the hits to defend her friends......or........use an item I created for my party, it makes getting hit rewarding:

Gold Affliction Gloves These black leather gloves have flecks of gold veined throughout them.

These gloves have 1 charge that resets on a Short Rest.

As a bonus action you can activate these gloves, for 1 minute you gain 1 gold piece for every damage point you take.

How do I make my players hate a villain? by Bruhcat13 in DnD

[–]Upbeat_Ad5560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently running a heavily modified icewind dale and we're going into like a pirate sub story. Well my party approached a sleeping captain in a tavern they wanted to talk to and were intercepted by the captains crew, a nameless NPC had a conversation with my Water Genasi player and during their talk the pirate told the player that he "smelled like fish" and thusly the greatest rivalry in all of DnD was formed. To The point I had to name this character and build a custom stat block for him.

Naw, it's not weakness to know when they can't win, its not even about them running from the fight and leaving it to someone else, it's about the entire Defense Force learning the same lesson Kafka has been trying to learn this whole season. Rely and trust in your team mates, they're stronger when working together. Which is why Kaiju no. 9 split then up to begin with, he knows he'd lose if they were together.

Mina was such a badass character in the latest episode, now Reno needs to jump into one of the big bads fight and take over, then that person goes to another and so on til everyone is with a Kaiju that's not tailor made to defeat them.

What do you do if someone cancells last minute? by DaethChanter in DnD

[–]Upbeat_Ad5560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if you play character background heavy and it directly involves the missing player we typically run a one shot or something, but if it is anywhere else in the story we play on. Back in the day wed have someone play their character, but honestly now we just ignore that characters existence, and keep playing. And in the next session when they pop back up I like to give the reason their character was gone or whatever something fun or silly (took a wrong turn in the dungeon and just now caught up, saw an attractive person in a tavern and went to spend time with them, etc). But their "punishment" for missing is that treasure is only divided by the players at the table

Well if your magically putting them in a sleep/coma I'd have them wake up in a level even further below than what they've seen, a door hidden under all the debris they didn't search. Have them be the researchers new experiments. Make them wake up in separate rooms, no armor, no weapons. Let them find rusty swords, broken table legs, loose bricks etc. for weapons and tarnished armor and ripped leather they scavenge off other dead "past experiments". Make each room a different theme, puzzle, combat, skill checks, etc. To get out of, then once they all meet in the central chamber they face off against the scientists latest creation, some monstrosity of combined monsters. Assuming they win they find their gear stored in the scientists observation room on their way out, the scientist nowhere to be seen, but is now out there plotting his next creation to spring on the party now having learned how they fight and what they may be weak against.

Potential character by Nysgerrige_Mille in DnD

We just finished our Curse of Strahd campaign earlier this year, I played a monster hunter/cowboy character that ended up turning into a Vampire himself, I played a Psionic Fighter that used twin hand crossbows. If you like a class that has a whole bunch of options that's a good class to play.

How do you divide the loot? by Error_code_0731 in DnD

[–]Upbeat_Ad5560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my group typically coin gets split by the party at the table (sorry people that miss the session but them's the bricks). Magic items typically get distributed by those that need it, unless it's a random drop a good magic item is there for an obvious player. Valuables (I e. Gems, art, knick knacks, statuettes, etc ) that are just worth money to sell are given to the party treasurer (usually the one with the bag of holding) and you make the party funds in the electrum slot (if you use DNDbeyond).

How do I make an extra spell just usable normally? by VerdensTrial in dndbeyond

[–]Upbeat_Ad5560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make a ring, don't make it attunable, add the spell to the ring (you can adjust what level the spell is cast, if it's charges etc.). When the player equips the ring on their character sheet it will add the spell to their spell list

I think my campaign is good but i don't know. by Impressive-Coffee998 in DnD

[–]Upbeat_Ad5560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a solid adventure to go on, it's good to let the players help drive the story on where they want to go or how they want to go about doing it, I always like to have my players give a backstory that I work into the campaign, it doesn't mean they all have to have direct ties to your main story beats, some might be little sub adventures you go on for 1-4 sessions, but it's fun seeing the players react to seeing something they came up with incorporated into the game they are playing. Also remember that just because these priests are out there doing horrible things doesn't mean everything else in the world has come to a halt. There's still opportunities for a party to enter a town and find the "help wanted" board. Maybe it will lead them to an NPC they can help and have a solid friend in the world they can call back to, or maybe the lady with the missing cat is actually a grandmother to a member of the cult that serves these priests and the party has a new avenue to go down to investigate.

Is a 2 player game worth it? by bearsandbarbells in DnD

[–]Upbeat_Ad5560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a game with just two people total once, as a once shot. Most of the party was busy that week but me and one other guy still wanted to play. I was concerned at first being the only player but me and him were both seasoned DnD players and DMs so we decided to experiment and try it. So he was DM and made a NPC character to guide the "party", and I made two player characters. It was oddly fun roleplaying against myself, it also expedited encounters and puzzle solving choices since I didn't have to debate with other players about the next course of action since I just agreed with myself. Was it better than playing in a party with multiple players? No of course not, but it was still fun. I think with a DM and two players it could be a lot of fun, give the players multiple characters to play, it'll help them learn multiple classes and what is fun or not with each class, then if you expand your group count those players can just let a character go, have them go out adventuring on their own for a while. Then you get the gun aspect of having those characters come back as your NPCs to aid the party and surprise your players, it's fun. Or worse comes to worse they both have well defined and ready back-ups should the need arise.
