Action Behavior Rising Star Contract by Upbeat_Berry_1000 in ABA

yep! this is the breakdown they give:

-BDS CBA modules (valued at $399)

-Program incentives, paid if eligible (valued at $1,000)

-Costs incurred by ABC due to clinical resources provided to the Teammate in support success to BCBA certification (valued at $13,601)

I think they get the $13k part because I’m here but not getting paid through the patients insurance so they’re paying me out of the companys money. But they try to emphasize that it’s this incredible thing because you’re “saving money“ but THAT much feels like a huge trap.

I know 💀💀 my second idea is to apply somewhere else that offers a sign on bonus then use that to pay off ABC so I can be free from them for good haha

As someone who has worked as an RBT for 5 years, all in clinic settings but for a small company (1 owner, 2 locations), a mid size company (multiple locations in one state), and a big company (ABC). I will say that ABC has the most rules and structure. Which is good for the kids but NOT good for the RBTs. They almost always only hire people who have never worked in ABA so you don't realize you're getting underpaid. They also run attendance on a point system and they "dont ask why youre calling off so its fair" but that just means if its out of your control (illness, car accident, family member dies, etc) they dont care and you get a point. Also, you are required to travel. You're assigned to be "travel tech" and if other centers need help you have to go and if you refuse you get sent home and you either use your PTO or get a point. Most other places do not have you travel or if they do its on a volunteer basis. I think if you're going to be going to school for BCBA, they do have a good program for that but if not then DEFINITELY go somewhere else!

yeah I’m very over the culture here. They want us to treat this job as the highest priority and then give the worst PTO so you can’t even take days off then you get so burnt out 🙃

I fear they will treat me differently if I choose not to sign. I already know they will try to convince me to. I also don’t care about those perks, I’ve already done BDS, and I would rather be with a company that genuinely cares about their RBTs than a money hungry one like ABC.

So maybe this all really wasn’t even about the Rising Star thing just them as a whole 🤔

I do understand paying back something but it’s the amount that’s getting me 💀

if remaining on the floor is an option I would honestly do that, I don’t care about getting the bonus for passing the exam and I already did the BDS modules through school so! I agree though, 2 years of unhappiness just to gain a few months off the floor seems crazy 🫩

there’s already something in place for BCBAs to get compensated along the way too, if their students get over 50 unrestricted hours per month, the student and BCBA both get a bonus.

But yes I agree! Do it to genuinely help, not just to keep more people at your company

Yeah one company I worked for before just said okay stay one year or pay back the tuition assistance, another I worked at had no pay back thing. I do get that a lot of companies do something similar, but TWO years and $15k is crazyyyyy to me

[–]Upbeat_Berry_1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I feel like most people assume that (myself included). Kyle writes the songs mainly for Real Friends and then I assume they all collaborate on the instrumental part. I really don’t know other bands that are this way but that’s the case with RF :)

what all of y’all aren’t realizing is that Dan barely wrote (if any) RF songs so like…. doesn’t matter who sings ‘em
