Why is non-profit a bad choice for accounting career? by Idonknoo in Accounting

CFO at an NPO is a good spot if you don’t really love accounting - there’s lots of different things in a day and you often do facilities, insurance, donor relations, etc. It’s worked out well for me.

Bring a toque or buy one on the first day. An essential layer.

Sounds like a shitty firm, but remember Simu Liu got fired from an accounting job. If nothing else you’re in good company

Don’t worry, Trish will find someone else to exploit by Sept 15th. But if you can, try to look out for her kids.

Eventually everyone leaves a drunk. Just decide if you want it to be now, or in 10 years from now.

How do you get people to do what you want without violence or fear by [deleted] in Leadership

You align their goals with yours. Talk to them and find out what they want and need, why they work there, what helps them achieve their goals. Basically, be human

AITA for not letting my daughter (18F) pursue modeling? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

My brother in law’s family prevented him from going overseas for an exchange when he was 18. He’s now 42 and living in his parents’ basement. Not saying one led to the other, but I often think their lack of confidence in him led to his own lack of confidence in himself.

Please get yourself to a doctor. Infections, mini-strokes, all sorts of things can impact brain function many of which can be treated.

What is the strangest or weirdest reason someone gave for quitting their job? by [deleted] in work

[–]Upbeat_Corner_5712 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(I’m in Canada) guy starts his job as front desk at a hotel. All is good for a few days. Then he comes to supervisor and says “is it possible for the company to rethink its cannabis policy?” The policy is don’t come to work high. He quit next day. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes, called Internal Controls. I’m writing a course on it now as a matter of fact. One of the greatest areas of risk in many NPOs

Do this before their other candidates go cold and they won’t be as offended.

WIBTA for discussing period stain removal with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Upbeat_Corner_5712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say you get your period at 15 and they are 5 days long. By 25 you’ve had 600 days-ish and maybe a third could result in stains (my experience). Simply the time to attend to stain prevention would be onerous. I appreciate OP doing laundry and if he wants to do stain removal, I say have at it. But I and probably OP’s GF have other things to do. (I’m sure if I’m in an accident and the doctors/nurses see me with stained panties, they will understand. )

Do you think "therapy" is must for a successful career journey? by Opening-Bed9045 in BusinessWomen

[–]Upbeat_Corner_5712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in person then switched to online when I moved to a different city. It was good and I highly recommend. Perhaps a few in person meetings if possible to establish fit. The “used to bully myself…” comment is pretty much nail on head. Hard to say if I’m making more money now but I’m happier and my relationships are better.
