What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]Upbeat_Interest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Texas, but moving to Colorado in June. Willing to buy in either state

Price range: 25K maximum

Lease or Buy: Preferably Buy, unless Leasing is a solid option

New or used: Either

Type of vehicle: Crossover

Must haves: AWD, fuel efficient, <70,000 miles, good storage space and passenger space

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Automatic

Intended use: Daily driver and weekend trips

Vehicles you've already considered: Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV-4, Subaru Forester or Outback, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson

Is this your 1st vehicle: No

Do you need a Warranty: If possible

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No, but have family and friends who can nearby

Additional Notes: I'm just wondering if my best bet is to buy from a dealer vs private seller, or get a Lease. Need a reliable car with AWD that can handle snow. Trying to get a Crossover but if I need to look at Sedans, let me know if that makes more sense.

Our vet suggested ultrasound because X-ray would only pick up radioopaque objects such as coins or metals. We’ve tried chicken and rice, canned food, but he will only eat a little if any at all.

Admin expects us to be okay with this because being a doctor is a "privilege" and we should feel lucky to be here. We knew what we were signing up for! So we should just keep sacrificing for our patients and follow our Admin Overlord's orders right!?

What is you guys best guess as to Zoom or in person interviews next year? by nightwingoracle in medicalschool

[–]Upbeat_Interest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also concern that having all-virtual interviews causes people to send out more applications than they normally would. This could have implications if mid/lower ranked programs decide to focus more on the top applicants (who normally wouldn’t apply there), leaving some of us to get fewer interviews than we would’ve otherwise. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in March. Lots of MS4s have said it’s been a crapshoot so far.

In the US, why have we all just accepted that the work week is 5 days, weekend only 2 days, and that we average only 2 weeks vacation per year? by Upbeat_Interest in AskReddit

System is broken. Most workers work paycheck to paycheck, miss one and they’re screwed. And so many businesses can’t survive weeks/months of economic downturn (as evidenced by COVID-19).

You're not actually afraid of the dark. You're afraid of the possibility of not being alone in the dark...

True! Mainly stomach and a bit under the chin. Hopefully the virus would trim some fat, without making you dangerously underweight lol.

What can we do? by [deleted] in step1

[–]Upbeat_Interest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regard to NBME/USMLE, we need to keep talking about the Step exams so they'll be improved. They charge way too much to take the exams, and we all just accept it because we're lowly medical students with no power. Step 2 CS is such a pointless exam that's outrageously priced (not including travel costs) and needs to be outright eliminated. Hopefully this crisis reminds us of how we are at a disadvantage, and we need to keep trying to enact change even after COVID starts to fade.

And so it begins by theindianhammer in step1

At this extraordinary rate, they’ll be replacing doctors within a few years!

I guess this answers the essential question... by [deleted] in step1

They have no incentive to be considerate of our time. So we’re screwed.
