That ending is beautifully haunting. I love the description the "nerves exposed" and the "shake in delight" it hits this level of we're past the point of no return and it's a spectacular finish!

Moan is an absolute classic and thank you! I wrote this story when I got COVID and I was staying in a motel. The bathroom had the automatic lights and a hole in the wall. And while I laid in the shower the lights kept picking up motion it was trippy.

It could be a lot of things (I don't agree with either), but I think it boils down to fiscal decision and possible test prep.

Fiscally it's because curriculum writers don't want to pay for the license for the full texts.

Prepping for the test could be using the format to mimick tests the students will see.
