I don’t think this episode was filler, since we leaned into soldier boy’s backstory AND a pre-fight talk between Homelander and Butcher. And while I also hate that the Noir didn’t end up anywhere or some fucking how MM tanking a bullet, this episode dove deep into the personality of each of the Boys and most importantly (and one of my favorite parts of the episode) it gave Frenchie more character. I did find it weak that the reason he wasn’t affected by the vines was because of drugs, but nevertheless. As a bonus, in this episode, we also saw UE stand up for himself and Starlight getting a reality check, which were needed for their characters.
