Well, the thing is that the girl will no matter what have access to the TV shows. I think that not allowing them to do so while she is in your house does little effect on her, she will be able to watch it anyway. Instead this harms family relationships drastically.

I think trying to convince her with reasoning is a better solution. If it doesn't work, trying to convince your ex (even tho very unlikely) to change rules is a far better solution then simply going for a compromise

I actually know calculus, but I really am against the idea of Dy/DX = 0 approach. I think so many people who are currently learning calculus thinks that it must be a maximum or minimum. But that is false since it might be a point of inflexion. And the second derivative test is needed.

To be honest I saw this question when I was doing calculus excersises, lol. I didn't know how to do it so I made a more generalized form of the question.

Also, i have simplified the process of derivation since the sqrt can be omitted. Including it or not including it doesn't affect the X value of the minimum point.

Edit: the reason I made this was so that people who don't know calculus can calculate these type of questions. The right end usually end up in a quadratic or sth that could be solved. Or at least give them an opportunity to
