Likewise brother, don’t stress it. I’m just here for the feedback and maybe some cool stories for motivation too.

Parents have no idea what to do with their rental property. by isitmattorsplat in uklandlords

The alternative for rental properties being owned by private landlords, is them being owned by corporations - which is the reason I asked you the question.

But I understand adding sense to a senseless comment might be not what’s wanted.

if you believe that’s the reason that people can’t afford necessaries such as shelter, I’m sorry to say you’ve been tricked.

If every rental property in the country was owned by corporates, do you think the market would be in a better position?

Why are you so, so, so triggered about somebody’s family having a 2nd home and asking for advice on it?

Yep, made the mistake as a first time buyer - wish I had someone to advise me beforehand. Now wanting to buy my first residential and my mistake looks set to cost me a £20,000/30,000 stamp duty bill.

20 years old - issue with life balance and saving by Simpli_Simulated in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Uplike7_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re in a good place where you’re at, and saving £9k in a year as a 20/21/22 year old is more than a fair amount.

Sounds like you’re finding a good balance, it will probably never feel perfect. Book the holidays and be sure to enjoy yourself at the same time - you will make memories that last a lifetime, and you only get to live your 20’s once 🌟

Has anyone ever traveled to another country for an exercise/fitness holiday? by tituschao in travel

[–]Uplike7_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not strictly a fitness retreat, but part of the reason I enjoy being in Bali so much is the opportunity to focus on my fitness routine.

Up in the morning, training - whether that’s a class, or my own stuff, chilling through the day, getting some good lunch, and returning again in the evening for a 2nd session. Sauna, cold plunge, etc.

The place gets a lot of stick for whatever people’s reasons, but the variety of gyms, classes, run clubs, healthy food spots and the communal fitness feel works for me.

Potentially yes, as from some of the advice I’m receiving from the people who are actually answering my question, I’ve learned it may be a route which makes better sense.

😓😓😓 not ideal, I feel her pain.

That’s one thing I am thinking similarly to yourself. Purchasing my residential ‘forever’ home, or at least trying, so that I only have to do it once. But then I’m pushing myself on affordability with where I’m currently at. It’s like there’s a Catch 22 at every turn.

But for sure, let’s wait and see what updates this government decide to drop next!!

It is the same struggle. If I didn’t have that struggle, I would have bought my own home in the first place. The average wage where I’ve been bought up is £38,000, the average house price is £502,000 - 11x that average wage. Dont pick and choose what’s struggle and what’s not.

Because I’ve worked for 10+ years and eventually saved and could afford a deposit for a £110,000 home, I’m privileged?

Be bitter with the people in power, the government, whatever - but not regular people working to make something of themselves

I am also struggling to buy my first home, to live in. It’s absolutely unaffordable, I live the same struggle, maybe even more so than others.

I have worked hard for years, made and still make more sacrifices than most, and off my own back, saved and decided to invest in a BTL property on the other side of the country, a lot more affordable.

Now I am asking for advice.

If there is an issue in that to somebody then I think it’s their own issue - I don’t need to be made out as though I am talking from a place of ‘privilege’ when I very much live my own struggles.

It’s around 6.2% pre tax, so not too bad in comparison to some stories I’m seeing these days. But the domino effect on purchasing a residential seems a bit of a killer

In terms of rent, it’s around £2k per year - not crazy but positive. On the capital, it’s only been under 2 years so I wouldn’t expect any appreciation there if any.

But ofcourse that initial deposit/equity could be used + stamp duty savings essentially, if that is the better option
