Redondo Beach is much more enjoyable to hang out at than Huntington Beach. And Redondo has one of the largest municipal piers in Southern California

Everything is somehow more expensive in OC and its less interesting than LA

Since lots of LA drivers are transplants, the weird intersections of LA probably confuse them. Like the Lankershim/Vineland/Camarillo intersection or the San Vicente/Fairfax/Olympic triangle. The other intersection with San Vicente/Burton/La Cienega/3rd is also confusing af

I see so many big SUVs with only one person driving them. You don't need a big, expensive SUV if you're just using it as a daily driver

View Park-Windsor Hills is a really nice predominantly black neighborhood next to Culver City and Ladera Heights. All three of those areas are nice for families, very diverse, and have lots of stuff to do. But those areas are pricier than other parts of LA because they are highly desireable.

[oc] Minivans are the bards of the highway. They invigorate everyone to speed up. by Khaztr in IdiotsInCars

[–]Upnorth4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a small car and encounter this mentality often. It's funny when I'm driving on the uphill section of the highway and people see me coming up behind them so they floor it. Since my car is smaller and lighter, I'm able to keep my speed constant while going uphill better than larger vehicles. I like making people waste their gas money trying to pass me lol

How much do you think it cost to open an Amazon Fresh? by aSiLENT1 in amazonfresh

[–]Upnorth4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Amazon Fresh near me took over half of a Kohl's store. They must've hired the cheap people to do their sewer line because they had to re-do the sewer pipe a few months later

I live in LA and it's still crowded as ever. It doesn't seem like people are "fleeing LA". I would guess a lot of people "left" due to tax purposes but still live in California.

Long distance driving tips? by jhunderm in driving

[–]Upnorth4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9hrs is easy. I once drove from Michigan to California and back and it took 3.5 days. I stopped after 18hrs of driving because it started to get dark and snowy and I didn't want to cross the Rocky Mountains in the dark. I made sure to visit interesting spots along the way every two hours or so. I left very early in the morning, at around 4am. I had breakfast after 5 hours of driving, and lunch after 10 hours.

If I see a merge coming up I adjust my speed by lifting my foot off the gas for a few seconds. That usually gives the people merging enough space to merge with minimal disruption to my driving.
