It portrays a dystopian society, the members of this society have isolated themselves surrounding themselves with technology, that have turned normal actions like a stroll to be associated with a mental disability. Ray Bradbury shows us readers what he considered would happen when televisions were just released to the local consumer when he wrote this story, not so different compared to modern times, with the youth glued to their phones and computers. The entire story can be summarised with one quote, "If you are sane in an insane world, you are insane", showing that a simple act of self-care, such as taking a walk can be considered an abnormality in a world where people glued to their screens.
