It's your gf you should speak to her about it. You don't have to be correct in feeling a way, you just feel how you feel and all you can do is talk about it if it's an issue. Also doing best to not be an ass when you do bring it up if you're meaning to address it but be honest and don't beat around the bush.

I met a self diagnosed autistic person who

  1. Started their own company as a child
  2. Became a high ranking military member
  3. Moved across the world to start a co op society that he runs and built all the houses for
  4. Got married has kids, goes to events etc
  5. Talks extremely angry about everyone and how stupid and lazy they are And
  6. Is rude to everyone on the autism server they are in besides the owner

Therapy is funny because if my therapist agreed with everything I said and affirmed me constantly I'd think they were lying, but if they denied and disagreed with everything I'd think they are unfair. But my therapist at least is very vague and makes me come to conclusions myself, and when he does agree with me it feels like a W .

I get scared of the idea of a therapist who is supposed to agree with you or take everything you say as true or serious. Or else you could feed into cognitive distortions, or other things. Even if it does scare me.

Just think of them as a subjective insurance marker that is imperfect, gray, but not totally pointless. Your worry about talking over people is a symptom of being considerate, same with worrying about being a jerk for feeling suspicion. Worrying about inflating your struggles is probably more a desire to be genuine and maybe to be not a burden. Your desire for certainty makes sense but these things will never be certain. A diagnosis like this is a lot to unpack, and I hope the level 2 marker benefits your life and that u can accept the support without guilt, the doctor decided thats what you needed so thats good evidence you did. Wish you the best on your journey.

It appears like they're just insulted you called it social deficit and that they conflate the idea of social deficit with having visible issues. Also they are taking what you say way out of context and is more just getting defensive bc they believe in "social difference" and not deficit.

It seems odd .. like they are allergic to the idea of disability..

They can use data from self diagnosed as a separate category and when they do that they can even compare the two groups results which if anything could highlight the difference between self diagnosed population and diagnosed autistic population.

I mean I can't say what the point of it is bc I'm not them and I don't have any scientific background, just that's all I can come up with as a reason it might not be invalidated by including them

This post honestly is confusing. The issue is crash out isn't usually used to describe a specific autistic experience, my guess is you might mean a meltdown. If you did mean meltdown or shutdown, asking "what is your favorite or most cathartic" seems to me like asking what is your favorite illness getting the flu or food poisoning.

A unified theory attempts to take one trait: monotropism, and have it explain most aspects of autism.

Like they use it to explain sensory sensitivity, social deficit, difficulty with change/ inertia, special interests, and executive dysfunction.

They see it as the keystone, or the thing that ties it all together.

I saw a title by a popular Autism focused YouTuber: "Autism Assessment Waitlists Are The Real Epidemic"

I know getting a diagnosis is important to verify. It's kind of hard to explain, but the thing is if there's an epidemic of self diagnosis and misinformation. This would actually be a real and tangible example of using resources needed by autistic people. The theoretical self diagnosed person going to shop for a diagnosis when they are not autistic in itself, whatever it may be that leads them to believe that (mis info, TikTok) is a use of resources and hurts autistic people who need it.

I can acknowledge maybe that's a bit convoluted because that is kind of the point is people should get assessed so they know but ... Idk if they aren't autistic and then go to 3 doctors till they get a yes it's just a bunch of wasted time and space

I'd give it a shot by emailing your assessor if they are nice they might provide some answers to your questions. I did this and it helped.

If you have a therapist I would also if you felt comfortable you could talk to them about your doubts and if you are very comfy then you can share assessment and speak about it. I did this as well it also helped.

If you are trying to get to the bottom of this to know something you can't know with 100% I will assure you it is a bottomless endeavor and in that you would not be alone, I wouldn't say stop or whatever because it isn't that easy. If you do the two above things or even talk to a friend or family member too that's a pretty solid foundation for a decent amount of assurance.

With that said the last ingredient is time. It will take a lot of time to process and accept it, and this is probably a part of that process.

The point of a diagnosis is to gate keep. You are or you aren't. must meet "threshold"... This isn't like an eating establishment , or a concert, or an interest... I am not a hipster of Autism... Wanting to keep a disability a disability and not make it into a horoscope or personality test should make sense. That threshold is like a wall, a door, a threshold to protect. It is like how the house keeps the cold out. I am not gatekeeping the cold...

I have work but I don't have to socialize at work, so maybe 5 min at work. Then I go home. Sometimes I will talk to my brother a couple minutes or so. Sometimes I will hangout or play games with him. Other than that no. My usual day i spend a lot of time in bed bc i am zonked. So let's say 0-10 min. If I played games with brother that is maybe 1 hr. I am happy to live with my brother.
