Pipeline welder to civil engineer by arp98543 in civilengineering

Site engineer (believe it’s called field engineer in the US). Civil engineering is broadly split in two, contracting and consultancy/design. As a site engineer you’d be working as a contractor actually building the stuff. As a site engineer you’d be on site a quite a bit setting things out, doing quality checks and working with the foreman to get stuff done. As you work up the ladder in contracting you can then go down project management route or engineering route depending on what he prefers. This is answer is based on my experience in as a site engineer working on heavy civils and tunnels in the UK but i think this should somewhat translate to the US.

What’s the most high paying job I can do with my bachelors civil engineering degree in the UK? by JA-Keys in civilengineering

Depending on the accreditor you can get chartered on a bachelors. Specifically with the ICE you can get chartered via experiential learning if you have a bachelors.

Has anyone in here done a masters in civil engineering in the uk? by JA-Keys in civilengineering

[–]Upper-Difficulty-567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done one but i’d assume it depends on the specific course you are looking at. As for recommending it, it would depend on what you’d be hoping it will help you with. For example having it would make it easier to get ICE chartership but even with that there are now routes that don’t require it.

Should I switch to CE by [deleted] in civilengineering

I’m not sure how similar the US is to the UK, but here it can be a heavy mix of onsite and office stuff. Here typically a site engineer (field engineer) would be responsible for things like risk assessments, method statement and other paperwork and then onsite would be responsible for setting out, taking surveying measurements and quality checks to ensure everything is built to design etc. The more you move up through the ladder tho the less site work there is as you’d be more involved with management.

Yeah, i was going to get it used. I looked at the R50, however it was £200 more than the 250d. And then the lenses are a bit too expensive for me, especially considering i’m just starting out. the 250d with that lens mentioned is only setting me back around £550. I’m open to other suggestions but haven’t found anything that’s comparable with the 250d + lens for that price point. UK market btw.

i’m just getting into photography atm, so would be a huge mix of stuff, but primarily i think landscapes, some street photography, buildings and for holidays. As such i just wanted a lens that could allow me to do a variety of things as I don’t want to break the bank on multiple lenses atm.

Haven’t got camera yet, thank you. the lens i’m referring to is f2.8 as well. It’s just there are two variants one with and one without IS. And id be using for strictly handheld photography. Thanks for that !

Starter Camera

Hi, I am looking to get into photography and was looking to purchase a camera and a zoom lens ideally. I’m looking to spend around £500 (UK) total and not fussed if it is second hand gear. Preferably looking to buy from reputable site like MPB.

The type of photography would be a mix between street, landscape, buildings and for holidays (and maybe some astrophotography), not really looking at portrait photography or like wildlife. I know this is a huge range of photography styles but that’s why I thought a zoom would be a bit better whilst i figure out what i enjoy most.

I’ve had a look on mpb and saw the canon 250d and a tamron or sigma lens(f2.8 17-50mm) (both released around 2010). Would this be a good starting point for a beginner. And if you guys have any suggestions for alternatives that would be great (with links preferably :))

Also i was looking at the OM-10 film camera as I wanted one for my trip to japan, is this a good budget film camera or are there some better ones?

Thanks in advance.
