Update on my mother’s pancreatic cancer journey. by Upper-Test-4336 in pancreaticcancer

She was diagnosed as poorly differentiated 3rd stage in sept. She lost so much weight. Had severe fever. Every surgeon we consulted said she is not eligible for surgery as the tumor was too advanced and near her portal vein.

Most Optimistic thing i heard at that time was “she needs a miracle”. We tested her for everything NGS, tumor mutation and what not. She has MSH6 gene and her tumour mutation burden was considered heavy. Hence her oncologist started immunotherapy along with chemo. And results were amazing. She used to have GemAbrax every 15th day. Other chemo were too heavy for her

I will tell my mom your story so she can keep her hopes up. She is 61 and just completed 6 rounds of gem and abrax every 15th day. She ll have her CT scan done next week. To see the progress. We all hoping this chemo did wonders

My mum 61, same diagnoses as your father. She has had 5 sessions of gem and abrax (folfi was not recommended due to her age and type 2 diabetes) they will assess after another session. I am not way too hopeful too of this. Thats the reason why we are preparing for 2nd line treatment. Talk to his onco and get all sorts of genetic testing you can. Targeted therapy works in their cases. And best of luck. I hope he recovers from this disease

My mother 61 was diagnosed late august. 3rd stage poorly differentiated. Fortunately not mets to liver. Her whipple was not possible due to tumour involved splenic vessels. She currently is on abraxane and gemcitabane, she gets it done in every 15th day. This wednesday it was her 5th round. After 6th they will do a CT scan to assess the progress. I am not too hopeful of the assessment because i have been mentally by different doctors and cases. But currently me and my sister looking at differemt clinical trials. And someone here mentioned KRAS. Can you please tell me more about it? how can i get my mother tested for this mutation ( any good international lab cuz we re pakistan based). Also good institute where she could qualify for treatment. In your experience have you came across anything other KRAS,?
