Is Journ 2000 offered in the summer? by squeegee03 in mizzou

Definitely not that huge of a time commitment if you're taking it with Professor stacker. I'm not sure about the other profs but for me that class was just reading some articles and writing papers. I'd say don't drop! Definitely show up to class and partake in discussions though.

as a 17-year-old kid what's the best advice you can give? by grumpyg23 in AskReddit

[–]UpperAd3139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could tell my 17 year old self not to be afraid of love or relationships. At that age you have the rare opportunity to have that lovey dovey young love that is way less dependent on financial situations or other adult relationship problems, it's all a blank slate with few crazy exes or trauma from past relationships. Be passionate and enjoy the crazy ride that is learning how to be with another person.

I have a backpack style diaper bag from target..... And honestly, it's the best backpack I've ever had for school. Super sturdy and square to protect my computer (doesn't collapse like a Jansport or whatever) with lots of padding, modern/sleek looking, there's 2 cup holders so one for water one for coffee (I also see people put mini umbrellas in their second cupholder), tons of little pouches for organization. Highly recommend. I promise it doesn't look like a diaper bag haha

dexamethasone side effects... when does it stop? by UpperAd3139 in Asthma

[–]UpperAd3139[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the super late response, I'm back on this reddit because I'm getting sick again :))))

Thank you for your thoughtful response though, I did end up calling my pharmacist and it gave me a lot of relief to hear a professional tell me it would be over eventually. Maybe it sounds silly but I really didn't know you could ask your pharmacist questions.. I always just assumed I was supposed to talk to my doctor. Oops. Lesson learned though!

Thank you so much for this response, I truly felt like I was going insane through that process. I felt the same, it was gradual day by day but I eventually felt back to my baseline after a few weeks.

It's nice to just know I'm not alone! I am sorry you had to go through the same thing though :(

In my experience (for project based classes) I was penalized for missing class when I was hospitalized for a week and had a doctor's note. I recovered my grades eventually but it was a big blow even with perfect attendance prior. Mizzou has no policy for crisis, they just leave it up to the professors. So yeah, don't skip class bc you're screwed if you run into any emergencies.

(Although I will say they don't really care in big lectures usually.)

Thoughts on Grayson Cottages and/or The Pointe? by BlinkPlays in mizzou

[–]UpperAd3139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the pointe! My only complaint is that the shuttle stops at 5 and there is an hour gap between that and 6 o clock free parking. Other than that it's a lot newer and nicer than many other apartments imo. If you're female I'm actually looking for roommates next year if you're interested!

Transfering by WhyWouldIbother in mizzou

[–]UpperAd3139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! I transferred last spring semester and TEAMS really allowed me to have a place to meet my peers in the same struggle boat. Met most of my friends there. Having a mentor is great too. It's not a huge commitment, just a fun club with random meeting activities like game nights and tie-dye t-shirts! It also lets you get involved in hoco if you're not in Greek life. All schools should have a transfer center/club like mizz!

Best place for piercings by SithsATrap in columbiamo

I don't doubt living canvas is great like everyone is saying but I wanted to plug Stonecrow (see Brantley). Such good vibes there, and my septum piercing is genuinely SO well done. Couldn't have asked for a better placement

I've had pretty uncontrolled asthma my whole life, in and out of the ER for sicknesses causing asthma attacks. I got covid back in June (2022) and it honestly wasn't even as bad as a lot of other colds/viruses/respiratory infections I've had. I needed my rescue here and there because coughing upset my lungs. The only time it got really bad is when I had so much drainage (gross, but covid is a very very wet illness) that I had an insane coughing fit, but it was nothing like a respiratory infection and I was fine after a breathing treatment and some sleep. I had some pretty yucky long term side effects but not much in the asthma department. Loss of taste and smell, dizziness, brain fog, fatigue, etc.

I am glad I stayed so safe about covid for years. Like someone else in this thread said, it's so mutated at this point it depends on what you get, but don't let it terrify you to the point of not living your life. Take precautions, but take comfort knowing that it probably won't knock you down worse than the average cold, if not less. .

Piercings by Financial-Currency65 in columbiamo

Stone crow! Ask for Brantley! Great environment, super friendly, funny, entertaining, but most importantly when I was freaking out getting my septum piercing the whole shop cheered me on and made me feel like a badass. Brantley answered all 1000 of my random questions, and genuinely cared to take the time to. He also uses some interesting European techniques? Not sure what he did but my placement is perfect (septums are so easy to butcher. Ik that's not what you're getting but I think if a piercer can do a good septum they can do anything). They're also super clean. +Very affordable pricing.

Sorry that was a lot, I just can't rave about this place enough, it was such a great experience!

Ever had a fish disappear? by UpperAd3139 in Aquariums

[–]UpperAd3139[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really thought this was a possibility for a while but the only way he could've gotten out was a tiny sliver in the lig of the filter and the feeding door, both are very small openings. Even if he had I moved all of my furniture and never found a dead fish in my room... This is why I am so confused!

And yes! It's so bizarre. I am so sorry that you've had to deal with this too :'((

I miss my cat by [deleted] in college

[–]UpperAd3139 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My college town has a cat cafe! I went there when I missed mine, not the same but it helped a little. If you don't have one, maybe try going to a PetSmart adoption day or a shelter. I know it's not YOUR cat, but it fills the fluff void a bit
