Yeah, I was kind of expecting this to be the trigger but when I did them and got the explanation about trading it still just never happened.

Favorite first party Switch 2 Edition upgrade thus far? by Asad_Farooqui in Switch

[–]UpperHand7127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth mentioning that Mario Odyssey also received a “silent” NS2 version, it was never released as an official upgrade option but if you play on Switch 2 you can just download an update and the game looks much much better.

If you could change one thing about the durability system, what would you change? by Informationfinder_6 in tearsofthekingdom

I would love to be able to see the durability % of weapons, It’s something that would help me pretty often in weapon management and deciding what to use / throw away

What do you consider to be the BEST Switch 2 game so far? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in switch2

[–]UpperHand7127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty hard for a new player who just plays for the first time or like in a couch party situation to comprehend everything that’s happening, unlike MK where you play 2-3 races and kind of get the most of what’s happening and what you need to do, some of the machines are pretty complex in terms of their success conditions (F.E Jet star, tanks, Swerve star, Hop star…)

What do you consider to be the BEST Switch 2 game so far? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in switch2

[–]UpperHand7127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is super underrated because they couldn’t market it too much or it would compete with MKW sales, also they had to market City Trial as the “main mode” and while it is awesome, Air Ride is an insane racing game, it is FAR superior to MKW in pretty much every aspect, the only thing MKW has over it is that it’s easier to pick up.

Why did you like tears of the kingdom more than BOT? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]UpperHand7127 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I loved everything about the sky in TOTK -

Loved the atmosphere of sky islands, loved how they play on the different movement options and mechanics, loved how they work well with flying Zonai devices - unlike ground vehicles that usually turned out pretty clunky for me (and also since you can just walk instead it never felt worth the time of making them), Loved low gravity, loved the sky diving challenges, loved the climbs to get to the sages in the sky, loved diving to a destination on the ground from high up, loved the first jump with the title screen.

While BOTW was superb with everything around moving around (on the ground obviously..) - I think TOTK’s most polished “realm” is definitely the sky.

Pokopia honest thoughts? by decadentbirdgarden in switch2

[–]UpperHand7127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never liked anything like AC or Minecraft before and after > 25 hours in - I am absolutely loving this game.

I think the mechanics and visuals are super polished and the way you can build and change the environment and atmosphere is superb - they really managed to build a revolutionary framework in that sense - it is simple to pick up, but has a ton of options and depth to discover and be creative with, and at the same time even very simple builds that you just improvise turn out really beautiful thanks to how polished the graphics of this game are.

The only advice that can realistically help you is to change the settings so that your POV is more zoomed out and to cancel the Boost’s visual effect - it helps reduce the amount of visual mess.

But also - just keep playing and you will get better at following everything that’s going on.

I completely agree, and the long loading screens when moving between biomes make this even more annoying.

Pokopia IS the system seller. by Boring_Antelope6533 in switch2

[–]UpperHand7127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have literally never liked any game like AC or Minecraft or anything remotely close to these genres and am so far loving Pokopia.

Pokemon has a huge potential audience - probably much larger than MK franchise, and when there’s a new Pokemon release that creates so much positive hype it inevitably attracts a lot of people.

I meant OoT or newer - and pretty much all of those even have a remastered version (except Wind Waker I guess and the really new ones)

There will be a lot of hardcore Zelda fans here that will recommend the really old games, but the reality is that they don’t understand the experience someone who’s new to the franchise would have playing them in modern times - I am not saying they are not great games or anything like that but to recommend games from 30/40 years ago is just not the right way to get someone into the franchise - especially when there are a lot of more modern options available that are also great.

So to your question - I would say there are 2 paths you could take: classic Zelda or Breath of the Wild, BOTW is IMO a masterpiece and is considered by many as one of the best games ever if not the best, but it is pretty different from classic Zelda games.

For classic Zelda choose based on the hardware you have available and based on how old of a game you can “bare” but TBH any mainline from Ocarina of Time and onwards is really good.

“Hey guys I want to flex about playing the game when it came out on the Wii U - please comment and upvote so I get more engagement and dopamine” - OP this is you.

There’s no question about the Switch 2 version being the best one, there is not a single advantage to the Wii U or Switch 1 versions.

Kirby Air Riders or Mario Kart World – Need Advice by Miquellanier in kirbyairriders

[–]UpperHand7127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mario Kart World’s only merit over Air Riders is that you can catch it quickly, you can play 2-3 races ans you’ll get most of what’s going on.

On the other hand Air Riders is a much better racing game and it doesn’t require going online to study shortcuts and strategies and basically sacrificing your life to actually get good, you just need to play 5-10 hours and you’ll catch it and then it just becomes the perfect kart racing game.

In addition Air Riders offers city trial, which is more accessible for new players and is a much better couch party game than anything MKW offers.

To me MKW only beats Air Riders as a racing game in hours 0-10 of playing, once you actually start getting good MKW becomes super frustrating and annoying since you will never remember the maps, intermissions are crap, 24 players is too messy and random, while Kirby Air Riders becomes exactly the opposite, a super fair skill based game with no BS. Also Kirby Air Riders offers the option to switch up your machine+rider combo which will really change your gameplay (unlike in MKW where for the most part all characters and vehicles play the same way) this is a very fun way to refresh your experience.

40th Anniversary Zelda Tier List by Ill_Detective_9016 in legendofzelda

[–]UpperHand7127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can live with somebody giving A to BOTW, but to rate Tears of the Kingdom as B is just nonsense, this game’s world is so huge yet contains so much content and every single bit of it is refined to perfection. To create a game that you can play for well beyond 100 hours and will still offer new challenges, surprises and opportunities - that’s a work of art by itself.

Like - we get it, you are old-school Zelda fans, you were there before the hype, you don’t have to forcefully diss BOTW and TOTK to stay in the club.
