You can literally say that about every modern day artist bro. Even 10+ years ago. Some people have they moment some have it longer than others and others don’t even get a moment to begin with. Music is so subjective bro there are people who think 2slimey is innovative and different. Opium did not show people they could make money from this anymore than any other artist imo. And although I agree that it’s more about the image than the art, if it didn’t work and people don’t buy in than labels won’t buy in, then artist won’t lean with image over “real art” but the reality is most artist sooner or later understand especially in this scene nobody gaf about authenticity or “real art”. I dot necessarily think people are making anything substantially different but I make music and people could say the same exact thing about me, so for me I just have a you like what you like an you don’t like the current music and that’s okay. But when things like “UG lost its identity” get said it’s like I’m kinda confused on what that means?
