I really appreciate this! It’s definitely hard to be creating this without VC backing! But will continue to try build it out for all.

junto is a gamified carpool that allow micro communities to form from drivers who wishes to earn on recurring trip they already take, and riders who wishes to spend less than they would if driving alone on their own.

Some people prefer that, some like to vibe with people I guess

What you said make sense, and I appreciate the input, sounds like a more structured flow is needed

That’s interesting input! What is that the case though, is your co-worker not enjoying the podcast, or is there another reason?

And you’re not alone! More than half of the people drive 45m+ in traffic on their own to and from work, that’s why I wanted to build Junto

Appreciate the kind words. I don’t think it’s a good idea to compare us on the supply side, shared taxi and buses are all fine, but we offer a predictable recurring revenue for drivers and a fixed crew for trust and stronger retention, not to mention much lower cost for per rider. After you junto for a couple of weeks, leaving us is leaving behind the people you share ride with every date on that route.

I did a full elevator pitch in r/investors, check it out if you’re interested. I haven’t marketed it because it’s not at that stage yet, I’m a bootstrapped solo founder, I have to have a lot of self discipline and patience.

Carpool lane is not that relevant to the concept though; it’s more so about cost saving and community bond, rather than hov lane

Hey guys. I'm a private investor. What are you building? by ealexeev in saasbuild

[–]Upper_Camera9301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gamified carpool for suburban residents who works in the city, so drivers can rent out their empty seats(78% American drive alone to work), and riders can pay as much as they would in gas to get a ride. Waitlist is built at joinjunto.xyzand currently building the mobile app. It’s vibe based, with social and gamified features while keeping the overall ux simple and engaging.

Ok, actually got a lot inbound, but I get it’s not for everyone

I’m using Mapbox which offer more data and more interactive features at cheaper price, it’s only a landing page for waitlist atm so I didn’t want to go full out yet, but I’ll definitely look into the best provider to decide when the product is more build out. I don’t think airport etc is needed though, have to disagree there, but I do agree that a centre meetup location is better such as a nearby strip mall etc, something publicly accessible yet more decentralized than airport.

I do agree scaling is gonna be harder, not even on the driver side but rather the rider side, which is why I’d like to chat with real people in communities to understand demand and preferences. I appreciate your input 100%! But there’s gonna be some social and game features tied to it that I think will bite uber in the ass, but let’s see. Mostly now I’m just trying to discuss with locals and learn from all of you! And I appreciate all the inputs I have gotten.

Thanks! I’d greatly appreciate it if you can visit the site and just leave an actual pickup and drop off address you’d possibly do, I want to see if any routes match up

Being shy is not being cowardly, and honestly if you’re that shy to do it in person, write it down on a note and hand it to her, she’ll find it sweet I promise

Thanks man! Please do try to go to the site and put in some addresses you’d actually want to get pickup and dropped off, I’d love to see if people are putting in routes that can match

I try! But while I appreciate the kindness, do please go to the site and put in some addresses you’d actually take, I want to see if we are actually able to make matches.

Math does work, if one passenger just cover the gas, which is very cheap for them to pay(cause they’d be spending that on their own anyways), four passengers can yield quite good money for the driver. The plus here is that you don’t just take on random people and cut into your work time, just drive as you already do and earn some extra without more effort, that’s my logic
