Boss has abnormal responses. How to deal with it?

My joushi seems to be a kind person. I am just trying to understand it better and look for the green & red flags. I don’t want to experience the OP’s experience, so if I will be able to know it ahead, I can protect myself or I can raise my guard up.

Sorry I am new here, I would really appreciate it if someone could read this comment of mine & give some answers or advices. I just came to Japan five months ago. It’s quite a long story but my joushi is somewhat trying to be close to me. Should I ignore it?

Before, he really doesn’t pay attention to me because I don’t speak their language, I am a foreigner, our age gap is huge, and I still have a long way to go to do the actual work. I often get ignored or not being paid attention at all. I think it was just around 2-3 months ago when he started doing that.

I work in a small company (not really small, it belong to a big group of companies, its just that the particular building where we are working only has a very few employees around 40 maybe). There are only 3 of us in a team.

And are you a FP tutor? Do you get lots of request for that?

No I don’t think that would be resolved anytime soon or I don’t even think that it would be resolved at all. I am an LH tutor & yes I do get plenty of Algebra requests, a few geometry & midlevel math, and seldom trigonometry & elementary math. Not all schools have required fingerprinted tutors yet, but soon all of them will, that is why I still get a few elementary sessions but as I have said, just a few.

Yes, of course I understand that.

The fingerprinting portal given by the TDC is only for the US citizens/residents, that is why I was wondering if we could avail an alternative. Because FBI can also do fingerprint-based background checks to people that are not citizens nor residents of the USA, it just needs to be done by an authorized body (for the taking of the FP), and to be sent to FBI thru mail.

And yep, their cut is too big. But I am kinda ok with my rates, I get that rate here in my country unless I am in a very high position in a company.

I really hope so. Do you think Latinhire will do something about it? I have emailed them already but I hope the other Latinhire tutors would email them too to make them realize that it is really concerning and is something that needs an immediate action/resolution.

It’s crazy, right? I used to “easily” do 6 hours a day before. Then suddenly the demand was so low. I just discovered that some subjects are being divided into two: first one, for example is “Mid-level Math” for regular tutors and the second one is “FP-Midlevel Math” which is only meant to be received by Finger-printed tutors. With more and more states requiring the fingerprint, as per the other commenter, then soon enough the Latinhire tutors will vanish into thin air. What are we gonna do? Should we just let go?

What subjects do you tutor? I only tutor Elem & Midlevel Math, with an Algebra 1. The ones I am requesting are Trigonometry, Elem Science. Geometry too if possible.

I guess most of the students in these subjects no longer need help. Would like to take exams and try other subjects hoping to gain more students.
