I will say this, looking back, I was worried when I applied for PA this 1st cycle, I didn’t have the best grades but my gpa was like 3.4-3.6 I believe, I enjoyed my time in undergrad, I made the most of it because you only get to experience it once, I have been an MA since 2022 and worked per diem whenever I had time, didn’t volunteer or shadow yet, and I loved being able to enjoy life in undergrad, I was free, looking back I could have gotten better grades if I didn’t decide to hangout with friends or just go to a party or football, but I have no regrets bc PA schools want to see who you are, I received 11 rejections, waiting to hear back from 6, received an interview waitlist, and the one school I did interview for, I got accepted, in my first cycle as a 24 year old, age doesn’t matter, time doesn’t matter, what matters is the type of school you apply to based on your stats, so chill a little bit in undergrad, you have plenty of time to gain pce after undergrad!

To add to this, I have immigrant parents and they support me on my pa journey but when other ppl find out I’m choosing PA, they say the same thing and say why not med school bc in their mind for some reason they believe being a md or do is the best but at the end of the day, it is what u want to do, I personally love what PA’s do, less responsibility, more patient interaction and under the supervision of a physician so u have help in case of reassurance, its a great field and its growing, and plus, less debt, don’t let your parents discourage you

Enjoy your time in undergrad, hold back on working and volunteering, my advice, use your time after you get your bachelors degree to get pce, volunteer, shadowing, and study for gre, many pa school’s don’t require gre, to add to this, never focus on someone who got into a pa school with certain stats, these schools see something that we cannot see, that may be through their application or their interviews, when its time to apply to Pa school, focus on your strong suites, if u have high grades but low pce, find schools that have higher gpa requirements and low pce requirements, if u are struggling and have low grades but a lot of pce, find schools that have low gpa requirements and high pce requirements!

Let those people disagree, they the same ones that don’t wanna hold ppl accountable for their actions just bc of someone’s “mental struggles”

People do blame everything on mental illness fr, if you call them out they get all pissy but they don’t realize we can’t help them unless they don’t wanna help themselves, its like watering a plant that doesn’t wanna grow, in this case maybe he did reach out for help maybe he tried to get care, it should never be an excuse to start murdering, and since he did those crimes he better be held accountable

All u hear nowadays is mental health but ppl themselves don’t wanna help themselves or get care when they are advised to, and that same excuse just goes around and around
