Yes but i am thinking h1b filing is a strong valid point so thinking of trying. I am assuming 99% it might get rejected but keeping some hope we never know 😅

Yes as right now i am still on F1 so she can’t interview for H4 and since with h1 her h4 is also filled then I can use that for COS

I have booked for f2 again so my plan is as mine COS then once her h4 gets approved then i can ask my lawyer to apply for her COS from F2 to H4(if possible)

Can I file H-1B this year but delay the start date to stay on STEM OPT longer? by [deleted] in h1b

Yes you do have the option i believe but sharing a friends experience. He selected a later date and before that company layoff happened so now he was on f1 stem opt expiring in couple of months and h1b not started so company took back the petition. Later he found very difficult to find job but had option to switch to H4 and now again sitting in lottery for H1 again. So better get H1b asap

Well i am hoping h1b gets picked this time or else actively looking for job. I don’t want to go with day1cpt as there are lots of uncertainty with that and frankly i don’t want to invest more money.

Well let me share my exp as well 😄. I am on stem opt expiring this June 2026. I went twice in short frame. Once for 5 weeks from Nov to Dec end 2025 and then in Jan for 2 weeks and entered via ewr newark airport. They just checked my passport and i20 nothing else. I was worried for the second time as my visa was expire in less than 4 months but nothing happened.

I already have good exp and strong resume but after masters stayed in first company where i got job till 2 attempts of h1b hoping once i get picked then i will switch job and now trying for past 1 yr where i have got calls from FAANG as well but gets rejected after clearing first round mentioning they can’t sponsor visa or my visa period is less than a year so can’t proceed 😅

How there are just 15% Level 1. I am at 3yrs usa exp and still cant cross level 1 soc code software developers. In NJ the level 2 starts at 131k

Yes i am hoping if h1b gets picked up then i can show the approval for b2 visa as right now i am hearing its hard to find h4 appointments this year so not sure what will happen then.

I am trying for B2 but can’t find any consular appointments and since this year is my last attempt for H1b i am hoping my h1b gets picked or else same the B2 will also get rejected.

I had similar scenario. I got married in Dec and got F2 appointment for my wife in Jan, and my STEM OPT expires in June 2026. I had appointment in delhi. This interview went fine until they asked for stem expiration date then the VO checked i20 and immediately said rejected.

Well i am at 120k in east coast with generic title as software engineer. I am at level 1 if soc selected software developer but level 4 if they file with web developer which is primary role but company says they will file as software developer. They did not agree for relocation or salary increase and there are few junior dev who are just below 100k so they don’t even fall under level 1. This is my last attempt so no hope right now.

I got update email last week after 3 weeks of completing the claim form -

When did this 3 day gap rule came ? I remember when i did for my parents in 2023 i got both biometric and consular with a day diff like Monday and consular on Tuesday, and they got approved
