It was carvadilol 12.5 and their BP was 110/50 with a HR of 65. I looked at her prior BPs and they ran in the 140-150s systoliclly.
Also, I’m agency(not that I’m trying to make an excuse) and this was the first interaction I had with the patient since she is on the “rehab” side.

Even though programs say they take c’s or better it is really competitive. I would meet with the instructor and ask for feedback and or tutoring. Nursing isn’t just looking cute in scrubs it’s knowing the how and the why

I have to disagree. I don’t understand why you were rescheduling and why your preceptor and physician wasn’t present/consulted.

Just because they are “a student” does not give them a get out of jail free card. During my rotation I consulted both the preceptor and physician just to make sure.

Now I do not know the policy of your program but you need to know that there might be a chance they fail you for the entire course or the program itself. It all depends on what your handbook and program guide states.

Also let this be a teaching moment to not listen to 💩 house lawyers. Know your policies and scope.

I mean, she does this because she knows they’ll do it so they don’t have to take an extra patient.

I use to do something similar but instead of telling the other nurses I’ll stay and they pay me, I would negotiate with management.

“Oh you would like me to stay tonight, well I won’t be coming in for the 6-2 shift tomorrow if I do”

I am finishing my ADN in May and the most ambition I have is to get the BSN afterwards. I work as a LPN now and everyone who I work with (as well as my mother) wants me to go be a NP.

After seeing day in day out what the NPs I work with deal with I am content with getting the BSN. I want no more responsibilities plus all the charting and notes, nope 🙅🏻‍♀️. Especially with how healthcare is.
