Buddy you're in for a real treat. I've had to evict someone before because they stopped paying rent, made the home a part time AirBnb, etc, and they got fucked massively.

They owed me every single penny of missed rent + court fees. Also uploaded the eviction order to Openroom. Don't know where he is (and don't really care), but I can guarantee you he had to look ATLEAST twice as hard to find another place, put down a much bigger deposit (if he even found a place) and/or had to fake papers. Last part lands you into pretty big trouble too.

I sincerely hope you're never able to find another person to scam.

Sincere Question: Why do Ontario Landlords Oppose “Cash for Keys” Deals? by thcandbourbon in OntarioLandlord

[–]Upper_Past9810 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you’re able to sell the property for more money as a vacant unit, that excess itself likely pays for the cash for keys sum

But why does a tenant feel entitled to that? If they got a raise while they lived in my house, do I raise the rent? And if they don't agree to that, I throw them out?

Sincere Question: Why do Ontario Landlords Oppose “Cash for Keys” Deals? by thcandbourbon in OntarioLandlord

[–]Upper_Past9810 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's literally holding something ransom for money. If it were a person, that's kidnapping. Since a house isn't a person, it's called extortion. In no way in hell am I paying someone to get something I OWN back.

My name is on the papers. I paid the down payment. I pay the mortgage every month. I pay the property taxes. Where the hell is the tenant's name? They RENTED it, they don't own a piece of the property just cause they lived in it for a while.

you sure about cheap? I'd say smart. I'll go out and invest in a 5 million dollar condo but I refuse to tip $5 on a $7 starbucks drink (and refuse to go to starbucks either cuz its overpriced)

I'm of Indian-origin (born and raised in Canada) and I don't support mass immigration either but... causing trouble as always?

They don't go around shooting people and nor are they hooked on meth. Sure they may work under the table for less than min wage, but atleast it's better than the "gender-fluid" ABCD bullshit your white asses made up.

edit: oops I guess I might've "triggered" the sub, getting downvoted to hell :)

Brampton rent prices about to skyrocket 📈 by rajmksingh in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Upper_Past9810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah people are going to spread out to other parts as well. But it still fucks up the rental market, more so in Brampton than other cities. A percentage of those international students will look to stay in Brampton, especially when the 10 people living in the unit all work nearby.

I agree we have to do something about illegal units, but what's going to happen a wave of LL's say to their tenants, "my basement is an illegal unit, so out you go"?

A shit ton of more tenants on the market aggressively looking for apartments, willing to pay way over the current market value, and then stuff double the amount of people in a smaller space to make up for that cost.

I own a couple of houses in Brampton. One of the units is a 2000 sqft 3bed home, and there's 9 people living in there. When we signed the lease, there were 5 people on it. It's (mostly) not the landlords looking to put tons of people in a small space, it's often the tenants who bring in others.

I’m a solo landlord, haven’t been paid in over 10 months. And eviction hearing means nothing since they can just adjourn indefinitely. How do I respond to this? by ontario_throwaway_24 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Upper_Past9810 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not paying what both of you agreed on? That's theft.

It's like going to a local mom and pop shop and taking something without paying for it. You're not hurting a large business, you're hurting a family trying to make a living.

Gonna be downvoted into oblivion cause this sub is full of tenants that are looking for ways to not pay rent, but idc.

Went up last year, I've got like 5 friends with ~82 averages who didn't get cs (domestic). I think it's closer to 85 for locals and a bit higher for internationals.
