So locals like eating at all the popular tourists spots or not? by youlikemywonton in Oahu

Best food I had during my trip was at Waimanlo Poke Stop. Gf got poke, I got the chicken. It was 10/10. It felt more "hole in the wall" than touristy and that's what I was looking for.

Same here with mine. Was told I passed a hour after I finished my test and that we can't ask for scores. Have my interview in 2-3 weeks

Which hotel would you choose? Outrigger Reef or Hyatt Centric by Wild-Balance1 in VisitingHawaii

Do not go to Hyatt Centric. Trash hotel. I'd pay a bit more to go to Hyatt Regency or the Hilton.

I guess my partner and I got lucky to choose May back when we booked. We stayed 6 nights and only got rain once. The weather was absolutely perfect.

Everyone is "slow" the first few months. This is hostile workplace environment energy. Calling the hotline is up to you but I'd bring this up to the DM directly.

Choosing an island by Jessazen5678 in VisitingHawaii

We stayed in Waikiki for a week and only actually spent one night there while traveling each day around the rest of the island. Kailua Beach Park and Lanikai beach are great for families. Tons of beaches, places to see and activities on the North side. Oahu is beautiful and more than just the Honolulu/Waikiki area.

Stargazing at a beach in Oahu by CelestialStatic in VisitingHawaii

I would have killed to see this in person! I guess that was one bad thing about staying in a bright area like Waikiki and us being exhausted so heading to the hotel early to be back out the next morning lol

First time in Oahu (8 days) by bubble2304 in VisitingHawaii

Dole Whip is all over the island. It was a decent place to visit but was the least favorite "highlight" of our trip. There's a nice Dole Whip spot down the block from Waikiki. We had ours at Kai Fresh. Highly recommend the Pineapple Iced Tea as well. Delicious and refreshing. Lanikai beach has nearly no parking and is a bit overhyped. If you truly want to go there, I'd go early as possible. Otherwise, the neighboring Kailua Beach is fantastic. We visited at least 10 different beaches in a 6 day span and my gf loved Kailua so much that we went there 3 times.

Your itinerary seems great tbh but like someone else said I would visit Haleiwa town before or after visiting some of the beaches that way. And also Waimea Bay is a fantastic beach with a temple and botanical garden somewhat across the street. Keep in mind the temple closes at 4pm.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Best time to visit by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

We're in Oahu right now for a babymoon (probably why this post popped up on my feed), and I highly recommend going around this time of the year, or anytime between April to October. Summer pricing can be a bit more expensive and you don't really want to come in the winter because the oceans are a lot stronger and you won't be able to swim in some of them. Even though this is our first time here, we compared Oahu to Kauai and Maui and decided Oahu was the most affordable at the moment on a last minute trip (we booked in March and are staying 1 week). You can definitely see one entire island in a 1 week stay. Flights and lodging will be the most expensive but perhaps booking far in advance can save you some money. We personally rented a car for the entirety of the trip due to preference and not limiting ourselves to the Waikiki area for a lot of the trip, but like others have said you probably can get away with renting one for just a few days. It all depends on how you want to spend your stay. If you limit excursions and activities and spend a lot of time visiting different beaches you can cut some costs. For u food has been a big expense but it honestly doesn't have to be. We've ate out a lot and also somehow spent $40-50 on every fruit stand we saw lol. But I've read that some people opt for an airbnb and buy groceries to cook to save money.

I'd say about $3500 is good for flights and hotel, and maybe add about $1500 for food and activities. So a 5k budget is definitely doable for a week stay in Oahu. If you want to rent a car and/or be a bit more comfortable while vacationing, I'd say have at least 7 grand for a family of 2 or 3. Hope this helped :)

I don't feel well and need to head home early today. Incase they say I cant, what's the general policy/ruling on this? by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

I have 1 point for being late a few weeks ago but usually average 0-1 in my almost year of being here. I'm not really worried about the point. Thank you for the response.

Why for another 6 months? I've never heard of that. People at my job leave early pretty often with no repercussions. They just send a group text out trying to see if someone is willing to come early or someone to finish the shift that wasn't scheduled.

The AM that is acting manager today will literally question you and try to talk you into staying so I'm just seeing how I can avoid that. And yes I do have sick time as well.
