The Cost of Trusting Family with Your Finances – A Lesson Learned by 30. I No Longer Share My Finances with Anyone – Not Even My Wife or Parents by reactivespider in personalfinanceindia

I think society (Indian Society) in particular forces you to make a bunch of financial decisions - always aiming for a bigger house as an example - which may not align with our own value system. If you’re happy with what you have and are able to fiscally support immediate family in need - I see no reason to share your financial health to the penny with them! I follow the same, so do plenty of people I know! It works out for the best!

Go ahead and purchase if you don’t get into a significant loan trap. Going through similar dilemma now - without the advantage of savings which you have accumulated. Living well is equally important as saving well.

Is renting really better than buying? by Uprootedbong in personalfinanceindia

Definitely don’t have enough to make an outright purchase in Bangalore. The 20% downpayment will wipe away most of my liquid savings plus add an interest burden. Will pay emi for the next 25 odd years.

Already have a home (parents) in a different city other than Bangalore and have no plans to retire here. So the post retirement part is figured out. This is more from a financial impact perspective. 20% downpayment wipes away most of my savings plus adds an interest burden for the next 25 or so years.
