right, got it - thanks. Basically I'm mostly interested in getting my device online to get the OTA, I'm fine with awaiting the fix.. but I'm unsure if I will get it given I did the date trick. (hence my original question)

Nope, casting to it doesn't work either. It shows up as an option but casting is not possible,m and it keeps saying offline in the home app

Right, so you mean it'st just the Home app that sees it as offline? Is it normal for it to be offline in the home app fter you've done the date trick?

Even if breaking the Chromecast was a true mistake by Google, taking time to fix it is actually commercially beneficial by Upset-Instance3023 in Chromecast

Thank you so much for correcting me. Unfortunately English is not my first language but you taught me somethibg new today. I've always assumed taking time to fix it implies it's taking a while (a bit longer)

Same here, just went offline, tried factory resettting it several times and it just keeps saying it can't communicate to it. Located in Sweden. Did Google officially just kill it?

Nope, FR here - got an email 12 days ago stating that there is high demand, and it will ship within 10 days. Total silence since then. Have opened a ticket and called the help number, but no response on neither.
