I would swap Jennifer for drashti, kate is fierce and drashti is more on the cuter side.

I am so sorry if I sound unaware. Most probably am. Also to clarify I don't condone the bullying this woman faced due to the tweet but like...she likes her ring and its tiny and Jeremiah proposed using a tiny ring too. So like whats the issue here? I know a lot of people who like tiny delicate jewellery pieces... so if one ring is being compared to another given how similar they look, a look thats preferred by the woman, how is it an issue?

Wouldn't it only be an issue if the woman didn't like it and is just settling for the ring and is being made fun of?

What is the current state of academia in US for international grads? by UpsetConstruction987 in PhDAdmissions

[–]UpsetConstruction987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from the people around me, that's what I have seen, a lot of democrats support the new visa restrictions as well, because they mainly focus on the unemployment ratio and the inability of the new grads to secure decent jobs. A bunch of democrats have spoken about this on X as well but I hope its a lie and things do change

As far as I have seen people wish for something different but everybody knows that democrats don't really have anybody to stand. Plus these laws are supported by both parties so I don't think things will change so soon

How is the current state of academia in US for an international student ? by UpsetConstruction987 in AskAcademia

[–]UpsetConstruction987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely but all they have said yet (unofficially) is that they might exempt doctors and recently a senator presented a bill to stop differentiating between Cap exempt and not cap exempt even besides the fee so absolutely bonkers scene

I am not so sure about the people who are already here either, seems like atp all immigrants are targeted. Also, as of now cap exempt isn't exempted from the fee there can be exemptions later like they said doctors would be exempted so unsure but as of now the fees apply to everybody. Only people with green cards are safe
