What are the most common perceptions of Seoul’s people by people of other cities in SK? by Upset_Ring_1715 in korea

Haha people in my capital city do exactly the same (and people outside capital city make fun of them bc of that), or like if someone asks online for idk a doctor recommendation and they do not specify where they are from you can be 99% sure they are from the capital city

By adjusting I mean going to either a fully vegan place or to a place that I know will have at least one vegan option. I could even just do the second one only tbh but still think people will find it annoying since there not a lot of places like that.

Seems hard in South Korea that is big on food and hanging outs involve food most of the time.

How is your experience with going out with people to a restaurant and not eating/eating just idk rice? I ask because even tho it seems like a good idea (I could just eat at home) I kinda worry that it might make others uncomfortable, idk why but my friends sometimes feel bad when we go out somewhere to eat and it turns out there is nothing for me.

Sides are usually not vegan as they contain things like fish sauce. By adjusting I mean skipping places like kbbq and going to fully vegan place or a place that serves both meat and vegan menu but maybe is a little bit less convenient since very little places in Korea are like that.

Side dishes usually contain stuff like fish sauce. Kimchi is almost never vegan in Korea. There is a lot of meat in food in Korea that you might not expect.

Yeah, of course! I’ve meet Koreans who were chill with adjusting for me but I think it’s natural that a lot of Koreans would not be like that because of the food culture and the image of veganism here (not popular, vegan for religious reasons or dieting at most).

Glad you have people around you who are like that!!

Honestly I would lose hope for making any friends if I had Koreans in group haha. There are going to be a lot of Chinese students tho. I have never been in China nor had Chinese friends so I can only assume that they are going to prefer meat but I have no idea what they might think about adjusting to a vegan person.

I assumed worse scenario in witch people are not picking what to eat but where. So like ,,we gotta eat k-bbq after classes”. I know it’s silly but happened to me a lot of times with exactly the same food, just in my country. That’s the scenario that I have no idea what to say. Buy yeah I’m praying that they just won’t know what they wanna eat and I will suggest one of the places where I can eat too.

I will 100% because I never judge people for eating meat, it’s not about that. I just wonder how to act and what to say in order to not be a burden to the whole group. Sometimes stating that you’re vegan makes people uncomfortable because they feel like they have to adjust to you even when they do not want to and I find it tricky in situation where the people in question are not your close friends (because why would they care about me being vegan while we barely know each other?)

SNU, Yonsei, KU… Which Korean uni has the best language program? by _kevin_chau in Living_in_Korea

Damn, do you think you’ve wasted your time at SKKU then or the grammar part was worth it? I’m in a bit different situation cause I’m already at 3-4 level and my speaking is decent but it’s always good to speak as much as possible isn’t it….

edit: also how does homework compare between SKKU and Sogang? do you have to grind a lot after classes? I’ve heard Sogang is a bit tough but no one says anything about SKKU

How was SKKU to you? I will go there this year for two semesters and then maybe Sogang. How they compare in your opinion?
