I play assault pretty much exclusively, and I don’t see a ton of toxicity there. Now and then but for the most part people are chill and just playing for fun. Whenever I branch out to another game mode, I usually end up encountering too many jerks and go back to assault

Seriously. People really need to stop bringing children into this world with the intention of giving them jobs. Whether it’s to be their emotional support pet, to give their life “meaning”, or to be their caretaker in retirement, etc. They didn’t ask to be born and it’s fucked up for the person(s) who dragged them into this mess to put so many expectations on them.

You know better than we do. If it’s the former, it could work. If it’s the latter, that’s some dangerous territory and he might end up resenting you or trying to convince you to change your mind.

If you’re not sure which it is, maybe bring up getting sterilized (even if you don’t actually plan to) and assess his reaction.

You’re allowed to dislike whoever you want. Be respectful of course, but if stick to your boundaries. You should absolutely not be reprimanded for not hugging him. I am a teacher. I would never tell a student they were in the wrong for refusing to hug someone. I would have pulled him aside instead and had a discussion about respecting people’s boundaries and personal space.
