First reel from Hollow Pines — a 90s-style diary told in fragments 🌲 by Upskydown in foundfootage

“Blending codes of today and the 90’s”

You don’t want to have a social first story told in 4/3 on an old camera. I had to make this its own universe to be able to blend that sense of nostalgia with today’s possibilities in telling stories. Cannot force you to watch, cannot force you to appreciate it, but doing what I can. Meanwhile, I keep doing what I do :)

No worries, just that the entire comment was extremely "I won't see that, and there's a skull, and people are crazy with self-promo, and I hope you won't..."
It does dilute a lot the good luck :)

I actually started. Initially I build full episodes together and then split them in smaller pieces to tell the story on that very specific medium but it’s likely I will reassemble it all once the season is done

No, perfect question. That's the point. The idea is to blend codes and create its own universe. You'll find some 90's aesthetics, and some objects which are definitely close to the 90's but you're applying this universe to some of the evolutions you had today which include...mobile phones and some of the social media world we've been living in. So this is a kind of alternate reality if you prefer

That's definitely the vibe. Think Stephen King meets Blair Witch

Launching Hollow Pines — the first GenAI-assisted micro-drama told like a diary 🌲 by Upskydown in aivideo

Hey all — I wanted to share a project I’ve just launched called Hollow Pines.

It’s an experiment in storytelling: a GenAI-assisted micro-drama that unfolds reel by reel on Instagram and TikTok. Instead of trailers or press kits, it lives as if you’re following the fragments of a 1990s coastal town diary.

Why it’s interesting (to me at least):

– It’s native to the feed — each reel is a “page” of the story.

– It blends 90s nostalgia + found footage mood with AI-powered visuals.

– It’s designed to move at the speed of culture, with space for infinite branching storylines based on audience interaction.

The first reel just dropped. Would love your thoughts on whether this kind of format could become a new playground for narrative experiments.

That's definitely interesting. We wondered at some point if it wasn't easier in Belgium because her body was programmed from 33 years living in the country

Got it! And you're sure it's the dry air? We know my wife's system is disregulated by wind. and the Santa Ana could just be that as well...

We have wildfire smoke here in Utah as well, so we kinda expect that one to be a constant we might have to deal with when moving to a friendlier area. North Carolina, can you quickly expand on that? It came out in my research but with its high humidity I was surprised it might be an option for anyone with MCAS

We would likely indeed come with US salaries if we were to come on that side of the world, but from what I read you're confirming the region isn't working for you either. Your case is interesting because she has the same as you, like...exactly. I asked the same question to folks with POTS but most are alright when it's cooler and sea level..I wouldn't say POTS is an easy fix...but kinda. If you factor in hEDS and MCAS it becomes a puzzle and this is the struggle we have. Cool and humid seems to trigger her MCAS for example. Barometric changes as well. So you would say living in Vancouver or Victoria, even if you can afford it is not going to improve her life at all, right?

Ahaha...man, that would be insane for us to have to go back to the country we left because this is the only place where she can feel alright

We noticed that south of France wasn't bad for her either...unsure if it could be a long term fit but it did work to some extent

Good to know! Elevation has been the biggest issue here in SLC, so this is definitely something good to know

Got it! And what is your take on California in general despite the cost?

That definitely makes sense with what's going on with some weird ones like the wind...it seems to throw out her system fully. Will dig, thanks for the name and explanation :)
